I'm pretty surprised by the level of production after his last solo album. Apparently, he's fallen on some hard times financially so we might be seeing a lot more solo work.
Damn really? Drinking? Apparently Middle Brother reunited at that High Water fest in charleston this weekend.
I don't think it's booze related, I think he was just beyond his ways and means. He and his wife had a kid recently and apparently couldn't make their mortgage. It also probably hurt that each member of Delta Spirit had publishing rights while he was the principal songwriter.
Wife is heading out of town Thursday morning for the weekend. Seeing the Truckers Thursday night. May get shitfaced.
I was there for that chilling with the vape. Dawes went on the next stage soon afterwards, so I wasnt sure if it was gonna happen.
Solid show last night and damn it was loud. Turnout was pretty shitty. They played Women Without Whiskey which is a great fucking tune, probably in my top 3 by DBT.
I finally got to go to an isbell show in February and it was one of my top shows ever. The band really plays great together. Sucks he'd always be in town when I couldn't go before.
Can we talk about Sturgill ITT? I've seen him twice now and both me and my buddy (he's seen him three times) that went remarked how he mumbles into the mic. It's just...odd. For a festival, he played a weird set. There is no horn section anymore. He never once played an acoustic guitar. He's the main guitarist now, and only one in the band. So it's Sturgill on vocals/electric, a guy on keys, guy on bass (who's really good), and a drummer. So it was weird seeing a song like "Just Let Go" or "Turtles" with an electric guitar or "Call to Arms" with no horns. Then I also thought he threw in two slow covers ("You Don't Miss Your Water" and "I'd Have to Be Crazy") that were fairly unnecessary for a festival set. Not to mention "The Promise." He covered Freddie King's "Going Down," as well but that was pretty cool. Anyhow, love Sturgill but it was a strange live experience.
"You don't sit facing the window, you can be in anytown." Love this so far, lyrics are great. And I'm halfway thru season 2 of billions, lots of DBT and Isbell so far.
It's "If We Were Vampires" off the new record. They took the YouTube down, but you can hear it starting at the 28 minute mark here. So good. http://bridge909.org/sessions/jason-isbell-400-unit-nashville-sound-tour/
Not sure what thread to put this in but any Susto fans in here? Been listening to them a bunch. Good sound imo.
My brother turned me onto them about 3 months ago. Have really been enjoying their self-titled album. Haven't gotten as into "& I'm Fine Today", yet. Also, their Spotify 90's Banger playlist is awesome
Saw them at the Earl in Atlanta last fall. They are awesome. Second album is a little heavier than the first, but I like both a lot.
Really good. First saw them open for American Aquarium in Atlanta a couple years back. That self-titled record is going to be hard for them to top, just not a weak song the entire way through. Justin, the lead singer, played in a local band here in South Carolina called Sequoyah Prep School from 03ish to 2010 that was really good, if you like his sound. He's an awesome guy.
Finally got a chance to watch the We're All Gonna Die doc today. Really made me appreciate the album even more when I saw how far out on a limb they were willing to go to shake things up. Pretty clear that was all due to their trust in Mills.
Big fan. Caught them in Denver at a tiny venue for like $10 this winter. Had been a listener to a few of their songs prior to seeing them, but really dig the most recent album. Fully expecting them to see an uptick in following after touring with The Lumineers this spring
I'm holding off on listening to new singles until the album comes out. Anybody else do that or am I weird?
I used to be like that, but then I realized it's all just music. Having said that: 1. If We Were Vampires 2. Hope the High Road 3. Cumberland Gap
Anybody else buy tickets to the Isbell or Sturgill shows at red rocks? These are the first tickets I've purchased through AXS. I got the confirmation emails, but neither shows up in my AXS app under my events (I downloaded it shortly after buying the tickets). Is this normal or should I give them a call?
Going to both. I received my Isbell tickets electronically within a day. But I don't believe I had my Sturgill ones sent to me yet via email. I did follow up with them on that and they assured me they would deliver the tickets within a couple weeks of the show at the latest. I've used AXS a lot and never had any problems so I'm not anticipating there being an issue.
I actually think Sturgill may be doing hard copy tickets only for the Red Rocks show, even though I selected mobile ticketing. I know he has posted about his distaste for scalpers and in my AXS app the Sturgill event shows up for me with my seats but it does say mobile tickets are not accepted for this event. I've seen similar happen though. Tedeschi Trucks Band mailed out their tickets two weeks prior.
