Ya I'm sure she did some great things but it's really easy to tarnish your own legacy by grasping to power way longer than you should've, like Tobias' girl RBG
He said before that he won’t appoint anyone who will run for her seat. He wants to appoint an interim that won’t have an incumbency advantage in the special election.
Damn. A month too soon. You could’ve sat a bowl of candy on her lap on Halloween and scared the shit out of kids when she moved.
Makes Pelosi look pretty foolish for saying people calling for her to step down were sexist. No we just don't want people with dementia running the country
Said a few weeks ago he wouldn't appoint any of the people running in the primary (Schiff/Porter/Lee). Hopefully he sticks to that.
Would appointing a sitting representative result in a special election? With thin house margins, that may be a non starter anyway since that member couldn’t be replaced right away.
Will certainly be tough to replace the productivity of this 90 year old. Will be hard to find somebody who is as in-touch with the needs of the average person in 2023 as this person born during the early part of the Great Depression
Insane we have a whole ass US Senator just staying in a position of power until they literally die. It'll never happen bc it would require some of the old fucks to vote for ousting themselves but all offices should require one to be under 70 to take office.
I know having her hold the seat was preposterous but the alternative (a complete stop to confirming non-Nazi judges) was worse. It's terrifying to think of Trump winning next year and having a barren federal bench to fill, a ton of senior military posts waiting for facist confirmations, and a 70 year old diabetic SCOTUS justice.
If she had just not run for re-election any time in the last 25 years, it wouldn’t have been an issue.
