Of the two, I like Plano only because it's a little older. I hate track home communities and no trees. Wife and I are thinking of biting the bullet and moving to the burbs for schools. We're kicking around Southlake, Flower Mound, and Richardson right now.
Based on this criteria, sounds like you'd be happiest in Richardson or Denton* * Depending on what your commute would be like
There is a significant age difference in the homes between richardson and plano, though (generally). After owning two homes in dallas, I miss the newness of my 1990 plano home
Commute is the issue. My wife and I both work off the tollway in North Dallas/Addison area. I used to commute there from Lakewood and moved to North Dallas. I don't want more than a fifteen minute commute, which rules out pretty much everything except Plano.
I'm around Hillcrest and Arapaho and am in RISD. That would be a great area for where you're going. There's also a good daycare right by where you work if you need one of those.
I like that area a lot. I live around Preston/Forest now. You're actually closer to our office and daycare than I am now. Would love to get into into RISD.
Your houses are expensive as fuck for what they are and it seems to have happened in the last like 2 years
In celebration of the first decent cool front I’ve had gumbo cooking all day and I’m about 45 minutes away from feeling a certain kind of way
Finally made it to Petra and the Beast last night. V good meal- everything was so flavorful, so much to the point that my palate was exhausted by desert. Would have like a “simple” dish that highlighted the produce as a palate cleanser. Maybe that comes with the tasting menu— alas. favorite bites were the Cajun spiced cheddar with the boudin spiced brittle (11/10 so good) and the mushroom string beans. no pics because I’m not a charlatan.
We went as a group of 4 which made the robust flavors work out perfectly. Share everything so as to not be overwhelmed by a single dishes flavor profile eating it alone. Place is a great food experience. I too am about to jump on one of their tasting menus.
For sure sharing is the way to go. Went with my dad and we shared 4 plates plus cheese and chocolate for dessert. Just felt overwhelmed by all the different strong flavors— not in a bad way. When the bill came it felt a bit like stealing for the amount of food and different preparation techniques.
Yes, was a little blown away by how seemingly inexpensive it was as when comparing to what showed up on the plate.
need some ideas please for a spot to have holiday dinner for my team (12 of us) week after next. We had it at Monarch last year which was great. It doesn't need to be that high-end, just really good food as we work in menu development and several are trained chefs. I thought about Petra and the Beast but they aren't open on Tuesdays, and the date is kind of written in stone since a couple of people are flying in for it.
I would second Loro as a good spot, but it is first come first serve so you might have to wait for a table
first impression upon looking at some pics is too chaotic. We had a private room at Monarch and while that's not a requirement, looks like at Loro we might as well invite the whole restaurant to join us
I doubt you could get a reservation and not sure if you’d want to drive to Denton and not sure if they’d have a table large enough for your party but it’s been a minute and all I can think about is Keiichi
Uchi- Japanese - uptown Sachet- Mediterranean- HP Roots Southern Table- Southern - farmers branch Meridian- Brazilian the village Fachini- Italian - HP
my wife grew up in farmers branch and her grandmother still lives there (neighbors with too tall nbd) and I’ve been trying to go here for a minute still haven’t made it smh grandma is a creature of habit
We had some drinks at Red Stix next door before going into Roots and it had a killer menu. It’s less than a 15 minute drive from my office so I’ll make a point to get there for lunch
We ate at the breakfast spot there and everyone else liked but they fucked my order up bad. Also it was loud af so grandma didn't like that
Quick review of Roots: tonight was the first night of their new menu with 5-6 new items. Skillet cornbread good Black eyed pea hummus w/ blackeyed pea flour beignets phenomenal Pimento cheese toast phenomenal as well Mofongo w/ escabeche good Fried chicken worth the trip alone I had the redfish which was great; the best part was the crawfish fried rice Pork belly with butter beans got rave reviews Short rib got a thumbs up also for the holiday season they have a coquito cocktail that is fantastic bar took forever with drinks the whole night which took some of the shine off the experience but otherwise an impeccable experience and the co-owner (money guy not Tiffany Derry) stopped by to ask our thoughts on the new menu
On my way to Dallas for work. Only there for 1 night and fly out tomorrow. Staying in Arlington because meetings are there tomorrow. Don Artemio in Fort Worth any good? Open to recommendations if they are open on a Monday.
Never been there as I rarely make the drive to Fort Worth but a quick look at the menu tells me I will be going soon. Nice find.
where in Arlington? Maybe you can get to Hurtado BBQ for lunch Have heard good things about Don Artemio but never been. Looks like they are open tonight
Unfortunately, have a meeting in Downtown Dallas so need to grab a quick lunch there. Won't make to Arlington until late afternoon. Staying in South Arlington.
cool I live in South Arlington. Assuming you're staying in one of the hotels around I-20/Collins you won't be far from me. If I feel a nittany lion disturbance in the force I'll know why.
yeah. But the equipment needed to production and transport will fail if not winterized like the rest of the world that regularly sees frewzing temperatures.
