We have until 11:59PM to decide if our 3rd grader is going to participate in our district's hybrid model (2 days in school, 3 at home) or if we want to opt in to 100% virtual schooling through the 1st trimester. My county has been averaging about 30 cases per day, so not awful, but I can't see this hybrid model going well.
It’s going to be a total shitshow. and a total waste of time when the school inevitably gets shut down due to an outbreak
my test came back negative which apparently in the medicine community means good bae hasn’t gotten hers back yet but we’re pretty much always together inside so the odds of her getting it and not giving it to me are pretty low i would think so betting hers comes back negative as well
For us it was less about safety and more about logistics of what happens if, say, the janitor who's been cleaning multiple rooms gets it? Or etc etc a million times over. Individual risk is low. Systemic risk is high. And ultimately kids need consistency to learn (imo)
Doesn’t that mean the residents would need to live somewhere else for a period of time? Wouldn’t this encourage some to stay with friends or family, further exposing additional people if they were indeed infected due to the large gathering? Seems counter intuitive.
It's to break up large parties. I'm not sure what you're other options would be if you're trying to avoid sending in a swat team.
Our school district officially announced online learning through December for grades K-12. Not surprising given where things are. In order to resume in person learning San Diego must be on a stable or downward trend for 28 days straight. Tough hurdle to clear.
The real fucking tragedy here is that this should be a nationwide approach. What the fuck does it matter if you do this in San Diego but two border counties are acting like nothing is happening? If only we had a leader in a position to make federal level policy and provide guidance at that level instead of having individual jurisdictions doing their own thing.....
My 1.2M person county is averaging roughly 4% positivity and 50-100 cases a day being moderately open with mandated masks. Thoughts on sending elementary age kids to school? I'm not asking anybody here to make a decision for me, of course, just accumulating thoughts.
feeling pretty relieved about testing negative. i think i will go to bww for the braves game to celebrate
I agree. I guess my questions is whether those numbers on their face indicate an automatic yes or no to you, or a strong lean. It doesn't seem like they do and that's our conundrum.
is there a site where you can play with data and get a line graph over time? I’ve used WHO’s and it only shows the weird spheres.

Moscow is waging psychological warfare. They hope that the constant daily jabs and a body blow every couple of days will make people quit.

When the first email came out it was a 72 hour deadline. Much better, right? Minnesota has only been under a statewide mask mandate for a week. The default option if you don't respond is hybrid. I've been putting it off in case I can be convinced hybrid is a good idea, but outside of some in-class learning & socialization I don't see an upside. I'm a fan of letting other willing parents being the lab rats. Too bad it potentially sacrifices their innocent children. [Edit] excellent post. Damn it!
Yes, that's a part of our process as well. When the hybrid model gets shut down it seems unlikely that the virtual learning for those students will function as well as the class(es) dedicated to 100% distance leaning from day one.
I actually searched the page for "DeWine" before posting. I guess the tweets hadn't loaded yet. Also, bite me.
I was just playing because of the precise 11:59 deadline. I hope you can come to a decision that works best for your family
but the incredible testing program that the president has set up, for only himself, works again and makes sure he is the only one in the country who’s protected by testing.
