Cormac McCarthy's 'The Passenger' (first new book in 16 years)

Got mine yesterday. I've been in a huge reading slump so hoping this will get me out of it.

 

So I’m a little over half way through and fairly lost.

 

so this book was fucking amazing. It's like Suttree mixed with NCFOM

having read even a few dozen books in common is a force more binding than blood

 

Did you read both?

 

Stella Maris was the least enjoyable McCarthy book he's written. It's just a dialogue between the sister from The Passenger and her doctor. It's super heavy on math/science and I plowed through it in one afternoon for the sake of finishing it

but The Passenger is legit af

 

Any other reviews? We have one "its amazing" and one "this is confusing". I need a tie breaker.

 

It’s amazing and confusing. I finished it and there’s not a ton of resolution just great writing.

 

could go for a whole book on the deep sea salvage and oil rig stuff. McCarthy's the best at writing about work

and the scenes in the restaurant, bars, cafes were all sooo good. It's a New Orleans book through and through

this is a top five McCarthy novel
