I can't believe he put in Lackey. I started laughing and changed the channel, hoping for a good outcome, but knowing there was a much better chance that the Dodgers would be celebrating. Just a real cunty move.
As an in game manager... not sure Joe makes it longer than his 5 yr contract. Fans will get pissier when/if we miss the playoffs while trying to rebuild the rotation.
Don’t use Wade for more than 3 outs all year. 6+ out save attempts in the postseason. Bad. I get that he doesn’t trust the pen but I don’t understand how you can go to him for more than 4 outs. The NLDS 44 pitch 7 out save was shaky as hell.
That overturm was comical, and it completely fucked momentum. This series is toast, but jesus fucking christ.
Umm... it's the Cubs' 4 walks I was referring to. Dodgers averaging 6 walks a game is probably higher than normal, too.
Jesus. I knew it was bad but that’s ridiculous. You’re right. The Dodgers led the majors in walks this season. But the Cubs were second. That disparity is pretty astounding. Although most of that is on the Cubs bullpen falling apart and the Dodgers pen dominating.
don't think this Dodgers staff is going to be offering up many walks anytime soon. Cubs could certainly use to extend some at-bats. No pitch counts getting tested.
Yea Cubs have been putting together awful at bats where they swing early. Dodgers averaged 4.01 walks per game this season, Cubs 3.84 fyi Hopefully we get our shit together
Pretty good run after giving us the greatest gift ever. Dodgers pitching is amazing. Hope they go on to win it all
I want Otani but if they can't get him someone like Alex Cobb. Then spend in the bullpen. I know those signings are risky, but that's the way baseball is going. Starters go 6 then the bullpen locks it down.
It was a huge issue in the 1st half of the season and then really hurt imho in the playoffs. Need a leadoff hitter. Fowler worked counts and got on base... We really really missed him this year. Need to find another SP with Jake gone (I do want him back but his price tag wont allow that i don't think) Improve the pen...
The Cubs averaged the 2nd most walks in baseball and scored the 2nd most runs in the NL. They didn't miss Fowler.
They had a stupid 2nd half with runs scored but struggled in the 1st half putting Rizzo in the leadoff slot... you can believe what you want but this team lacked a leadoff hitter. Jon Jay isn't the answer and I don't see anyone on the roster I would bat leadoff.
The leadoff batter bats leadoff once per game. The Dodgers just whipped the Cubs ass with a guy that has a career OBP of .331
Playoffs aside, Jon Jay just had a great season--.375 OBP from a leadoff hitter is really good. Didn't necessarily have the same success when they put him in the leadoff spot, but that's well within variance range.
