Looks interesting and don’t know anything about it. https://www.dexerto.com/tv-movies/w...cumentary-about-release-date-trailer-2236916/
Like they said in the film, it wasn't illegal because no one thought anyone would be dumb enough to do it.
Only 30 min in and holy shit this guy is a slime ball. But he is charismatic. You can see how he got away w it. But he’s also kind of a dumbass. Lmao at thinking the TV show “Black-ish” was called “N-Word-ish” Cmon dude.
Really enjoyed the documentary. I found it wild how ESPN and IMG got bamboozled by this guy. Like I just can’t understand how that happened unless they quite literally didn’t even bother googling them
The way I remember it is that they trusted that guy who helped those schools schedule games. ESPN would then select games. He had a great track record so nobody else vetted the scheduled teams.
IMG couldn't have been bamboozled by anyone since they played bishop sycamore in 2020 as well. Really liked the documentary, but I wish they had been able to put espn's feet to the fire more. Roy Johnson is an enormous piece of shit, but bomani was right to describe him as a symptom of a larger problem. Obviously only so much you can do in a 100 minute documentary, but redirecting some of the limelight away from Johnson and toward some of the larger institutions that enable this stuff would have been good imo
That guy reminded me a lot of Dee's boyfriend in one of the first always sunny episodes He is clearly a psychopath and has probably killed people
I just meant in general based on the vibes he put out. no debate the bishop sycamore guy was bad and a psychopath
All time scum bag. Felt so bad for the kids. the no comment from espn and IMG was a rough scene for them. loved having Bomani in there, he was great
Overall, really enjoyed the doc. I wish they did more to hold the scheduler and ESPN accountable. The no comment from ESPN speaks volumes, but to have the scheduler not get any questions about looking into the school shocked me.
I can't believe how much I hate Roy Johnson. Poor kids man, I would be so fucked up if that happened to me at 19.
I would assume that because he didn't sign the papers he got adults to sign the PPP loans he. Scott free
Basically the “if someone can’t prove this, I’ll lie about it response”? The hotel checks is certainly some level of fraud and a string of intentionally not paying hotels is definitely a “loophole” which would’ve been closed decades ago.
