Too bloody hot mate, and my little portable a/c is fucking broken. Slept in the guest room last night (it’s on a lower floor so less hot) with a fan pointed directly at my taint.
Not really no, and the windows open the wrong direction; they open like a door instead of an up-and-down sliding American window.
I watch a couple different racing streamers that are UK based from time to time and every one always complains in the summer about how hot their house is. It's a consistent thing. I understand that it may have not been needed back in the day but shits changed. Why tf don't you all just get fucking A/C? My god it's not rocket science
for the same reason people in the PNW and the upper Midwest don’t, it’s not worth the investment to be used a few days a year
1) because it's really only two weeks a year you really need it outside of maybe London where it's usually hotter 2) as I posted above, the windows here don't work with the in-window type you see in the states, central air isn't a thing here (pretty much universally but especially in old houses), and people are either unwilling to cut a hole in their wall to get a room unit, renting and so the landlord sure as shit won't, or if the house was built before 2000, likely have asbestos in the house and so have to pay through the nose to get it done safely. 3) as I stated, I have one but it is broken
Adding 4) the heat wouldn't be as much of a problem but because the UK is less a "country" and more a way for oligarchs to maximize profit at the expense of the masses with no ramifications, houses are built cheap as shit, often not up to code, and insulation is often half assed or skipped entirely because you can't see it and by the time people realize it, the company who built it has gone out of business and a COMPLETELY NEW company who just happens to employ all the same people but is COMPLETELY DIFFERENT has taken it's place, so there's no legal avenue for compensation. See my post in 5 months about winter heating cost
Taffy i just discovered the song Yma o Hyd and I am in fucking bits right now. Specifically the Dafydd Iwan version at Wales v Austria.
With English subtitles, I assume? What led you to that video? It's definitely one to make the hairs on the back of your neck stand up. Yma o hyd!
I mean this is 100% true but it’s also a country with a proud history of leaders and rulers who were openly banging children and no one cared. That said, now the Daily Mail can destroy any politicians career by writing a completely unsubstantiated hit piece calling someone a paedo antisemite and everyone will nod sagely and say “yup I always suspected that”.
Last night I encountered a true “British holiday destination” novelty of being told a place is “fully booked” in a totally empty restaurant.
I had a guy completely blow his top at me for just coming to complete stops and going the speed limit in a residential neighborhood the other day. #justdoingmypart #havethatyecunts
