Yes, I also think introducing all the Martell folks earlier may be a good idea. I think they are one of the coolest houses and they don't really appear til Oberyn comes to King's Landing in the second half of the third book. It'll be a pretty big shock to the show fans when all of a sudden half of the story is a family nobody has ever heard of. Not to mention, there is no way the show fans will tolerate a whole season without Jon, Tyrion, Daenerys, etc.
I hope Season 4 ends with Littlefinger pushing Lysa through the moon door, Tyrion shooting Tywin and then the epilogue is Lady Stoneheart.
i actually liked the vale stuff littlefinger conspiring and shit, along with sansa being slightly more than a paralyzed naive useless character was nice
Littlefinger is the hero of the story etc.etc and he was in prime form running shit from the Vale. loved it.
Been rewatching the series over the last few weeks and forgot how awesome it is. Even though i watched them live it seemed so much better just being able to watch them all at once. Season 2 is especially amazing television. Excited to see what they'll do with the best book.
Jon and Dany are the heroes but Littlefinger is the main catalyst. Loved how it wasn't revealed until so deep into the story
So... Just finished my first read of the books... Should I even bother with the show? I've seen the first episode and was pretty meh about it.
Of course you should. And surprised you were meh on it. I liked it the first time I saw it and hadn't even read the books. Liked it even more after reading it.
I'm just not enthusiastic because it won't be as good? Especially when it varies... I'll just get pissy. I'll give it a few more episodes. I am catching up on Breaking Bad and Mad Men... so I'm tentative of adding another long show into the mix right now.
Seperate the books from the show. The Blackwater Battle (and the lead up to it) was great in the books but even though they had to change a lot of stuff for the show that was still great as well and a lot of critics called it the best episode of TV of the year. The show is the show and the books are the books.
Game of Thrones is my favorite show on TV right now besides Breaking Bad. I don't see how anyone who likes the books wouldn't like the show. Yes, it is different. But as long as you don't go into it overly critical of the differences, you'll enjoy it. It's just important to acknowledge that some of the book is impossible to make into a 10 episode season.
The vast majority of departures make sense and are reasonable in light of the change in medium, in my opinion. Enjoy it for what it is: a badass adaptation of a badass book series.
that is definitely the blackfish. he looks badass as fuck. you're probably right on the second dude too.
lots of good pics in there http://winteriscoming.net/2013/01/first-season-three-photos-released/#more-22542
I got the link from the other thread. http://winteriscoming.net/2013/01/first-season-three-photos-released/
that was for season 2. they were 100% confirmed a long time ago. they even interviewed them for a little hbo feature on the new characters.
Agree. I had "coolest summer camp leader of all time" in my head when I read the books, that guy definitely isn't him. I'm sure he's a great actor, though. And they nailed the Blackfish. Also, I've seen photos on Twitter of the bear they're using for the Bear Pit scene with Brienne and Jamie in the last couple days. Some were concerned HBO was going to cut that scene out, but it's definitely in.
Queen of Thorns? Spoiler I may be getting all my armies mixed up from the fucked up other side of the world, but I hope this isn't supposed to be the Unsullied. Haven't they already given a glimpse of them that's closer to the books, or am I just forgetting something? Spoiler
Nevermind, it's definitely Beric. http://www.filmschoolrejects.com/tv/game-of-thrones-season-3-photos.php
I'm not sure if it matches the description, but he looks exactly like I pictured Mance. He is one of my favorite characters so I'm pumped.
