Re: ASIAF book 6 is this a goddamn joke? am i just supposed to wait 20 years to finish this thing up? fffffffff
Re: ASIAF book 6 i didnt even think about that. he turns 63 this year. this is the worst news in months
Re: ASIAF book 6 Yea i was talking to WBN about this, there have been 5-6 year gaps between the last few books. So even if he completed them at the his current clip we won't get closure for at least 10 years and now if he's working on something else . And then like I said the guy is old and obviously not in the best of shape.
Re: ASIAF book 6 Here's where I read it http://www.dailyblam.com/news/2011/07/05/game-of-thrones-creator-to-pen-season-2-episode-featuring-violent-ship-battles Season 2 spoilers in that link
Re: ASIAF book 6 Pretty sure I have read that Martin said if he dies before the series is done, then thats it. He isn't having someone finish the story like Robert Jordan
Re: ASIAF book 6 Basically I've got way too many loose ends to tie up and i'm tired of this series so fuck y'all i'm gonna start a new series and die before either is finished.
Re: ASIAF book 6 I read all 4 books right after AFFC came out, and I believed him when he said ADWD would come out a year later, I don't know why but I thought the show would make him finish the other two books within a reasonable timeline. If this is true, I will never forgive myself for giving the fat fuck the benefit of the doubt again. Fuck him.
Re: ASIAF book 6 I'm a showfag originally but I thought he would have at least started on 6. I really didn't expect him to be close [meaning it was 3-4 years away] to releasing it but I didn't expect him to be starting on a completely different series.
Re: ASIAF book 6 And this is why Robert Jordan is a better (even in death) then this fat fuck. No way he's finishing the series. At least I can look forward to WoT ending next year.
Re: ASIAF book 6 Im jumping in line to shit on his grave if he dies and doesn't let anyone finish it.
Re: ASIAF book 6 this has got to be a joke. i'm just hoping that he's over the hump of trying to figure everything out and now its just tying everything together. hence, shorter time between books and secondly, what if you were reading these books and YOU didnt have much time left. as in "hey i'm 63 i dont have another 10 years left." how fucking pissed off would you be that he's taking a break
Re: ASIAF book 6 I am enjoying watching it dawn on the showfags that with the timelines here, after they gorge on books 1-5, they will be waiting a significant portion of their lives for any resolution of this series, if there ever is any. As one who has been reading these books since GoT first came out, punctuated with frequent 5-year gaps while you forget the books exist, then have to scramble to re-read everything to get geared up for the new edition, I've been dealing with this for a while. GRRM is the GOAT troll.
Re: ASIAF book 6 I think technically he's started on it as he wrote povs for Dragons but will use them instead for WoW. He's still a douchebag
Re: ASIAF book 6 Another quote. Also this was added to that quote by the writer of the article (And yes, Martin has always known how the series will end and who among his major characters would live or die.)
Book 6 - The Winds of Winter Just read an interview with GRRM where he stated that he won't even start working on Book 6 until sometime next year. I had hopes that the HBO show would kick his fat ass into gear. No such luck. Oh well, can't wait until 2017 when I can read it. If George hasn't died by then.
Re: Book 6 - The Winds of Winter Yea our only hope of this thing being finished is taking up a collection to buy the rights and make someone else finish it after he dies.
It's not about money. He's not gonna let someone else finish it. If he does know the ending already he better put that in his will so we get some answers.
If it stays at 7 books he might be able to finish. I figure mid 70's is as long he could possibly have. How many people that fat do you see making 80. So if he can keep it at like 5 or 6yrs a book he might be able to finish on his death bed. What worries me is that he was planning to extend the series again. So much still has to happen and these books creep through time. I think 3 or 4 years have passed in the series so far, maybe. No way he could live to a book 8 on this timescale.
Well his quote i posted on the previous page suggests he plans on sticking with 7. I never knew that he had considered extending it. That's interesting. Surely he can conclude the story with 3 more books including 5.
Well, he hasn't ever said it I don't think but 7 is actually an extension from his first plans. I forget what the original number was but it was several books shorter.
Glad I don't like the series as much as others in this thread, I would have been so fucking pissed with Martin by 2013 if I did I think. My kids will be in seventh grade and Arya will still be traveling back and forth between three fucking places.
I'm hoping it is all about the money to the editors/publishers/HBO, etc and if he dies without finishing it they say "fuck that, hire someone to finish it". Of course it would probably suck since the stingy fat fuck will not leave notes or anything. Maybe he will surprise us all and finish it? I don't think I'll ever buy another one though, fuck him I'm downloading the shit for free.
would anyone be really surprised if fatass had a book written and just didn't put it out for a long time to keep the ride going as long as possible?
When I said "It's not about the money" I meant that money may not be able to buy the rights from him. If he owns the property and states in his will that no one is allowed to use his work to complete the story then there will be no ending.
New review from the LA Times (some might consider this to have minor spoilers. I think it's more or less stuff we know or have figured out, but just to warn) http://www.latimes.com/entertainment/news/books/la-et-book-20110712,0,6684791.story Another one. http://www.salon.com/books/feature/2011/07/10/a_dance_with_dragons/index.html
I've heard that he has book tours and other things going on so I guess I'm not as pissed about him waiting until next year (it better be early next year) to start work again. I better not have to wait 5 years for the next one, though
I have read somewhere that he has about 200 pages written for WoW. Granted that is still not a lot considering how many pages past books have but at least he is getting some shit done.
15%-20% in a year. Then you have editing and revisions. Still gonna be at least 4 more years unless his publisher gets on his enormous ass.
Well he has been do a lot of traveling and promotion for the show, and you know that fat ass can't multitask so maybe hell get more done next year. I know not to expect it I'm just play devil's advocate here.
