Preloaded it last night. Buddy of mine played it some and said it was pretty good. Felt more like bf4 with the new gun mechanics
I played the beta for a couple hours last night. It’s pretty fun, but it felt kind of like everyone was just running around aimlessly. Hopefully it’s just people getting used to the maps, but the amount of medics who ran past me while I was waiting for a revive was infuriating. They could probably make the downed teammate icon bigger, because I noticed it was hard to see them. Also not a huge fan of the new spotting mechanic.
I’ve been running as medic trying to get some assignments done and it is really hard to tell someone needs revive unless right in front of you. I asked that squad mates call out to let me know. I still prefer assault but man can you pull in points just tossing out med packs. I assume support runs the same way. I prefer the guns in the medic class a lot more than BF1 medic class. And to tag off everyone running around aimlessly...I noticed after the two days early the quality of player really went down. At least on PS4
Rest in Peace Battlefield EA and DICE have officially ruined this series if this game launches in this state.
The menus, paying currency for customization, Not being able to edit my character in game. Just reminds me of Battlefront 2 reskinned for WW2. The gunplay is solid but everything else just reminds me of COD on a larger map.
Until they release something that unlocks all content for a price like EA is known to do. Weapons customization and upgrades should not have the same currency as cosmetic options.
Had a blast on the beta and it looks like Dice has a big check list they’re going through. As for visibility they’re going to do something about that. Personally I just turned off film grain and could see everything.
Whatcha mean by that? I’m glad I’m not spamming away the spot button anymore. I wasn’t a fan of the WW2 theme at first because I thought it would be a reskin of bf1, but this is great. Dice nailed it so far. One thing I don’t like is the weapon upgrade system. I could tell in my first couple game that I was just simply being outgunned by guys who had applied upgrades.
Far from it. No more random bullet deviation, no 3D spotting, no more zerg rush, and no explosive spam is just scratching the surface. Feels more like bf3/4 than bf1 where they wrecked the gun play. Definitely recommend it
Nah that's not what I meant. I saw people spotting on twitch etc. I could be wrong. I dunno. Either way this game looks fuckin amazing. All the fuckbois upset about women being in the game have to eat shit. DL it rn
Recon has the ability to spot with landing a shot, a spotting scope, and with flares. Support can also have the ability to spot suppressed enemies. Every class can throw out stationary markers that change color if you spot vehicles.
I was not a fan of the new spotting when I played the demo. I didn’t like that it just tagged a location, even though I could see people there. It’s like your crosshair needs to be directly on the person, but at that point, I might as well shoot them.
That’s exactly what they’re going for.[/QUOTE] But if they’re out of range, then I’d like to be able to tag them. I just didn’t like how small the area was for tagging. I think there’s a happy medium between bf1 where you could tag the entire enemy team by looking their direction, and having to be aiming directly at them.
Sorry for fucking up the quotes. I always thought the spotting mechanic in bf3 till present was bad. Too much reward for just pressing a button. Being able to mark a whole team , half the guys you can’t even see, by just spotting a general direction was detrimental to the flow of the game. It basically negates flanking and rewards people for not using their weapons. Only certain classes should have the ability to spot. The stationary marker works fine with getting eyes on a certain location. Chasing and shooting markers isn’t that rewarding/challenging.
Hoping I can grow to like this game but so far not really impressed at all. Pretty stupid to release the game before all modes and other functionality such as test range are available. Character movements seem better than bf1 but still not on level of bf3/4. Weapon customization and other user interfaces are cumbersome and not intuitive. Hate the kill cam, players can’t even tell when I’m t-bagging them. As someone that prefers infantry only maps, TDM on Rotterdam is my favorite thus far. Conquest seems like a sniper and vehicle campers paradise much like BF1.
I don't know about yous. But I love this shit. Outside of the spotting I like the new weapon progressions. Although it's annoying to get the hang of using the armory screens once you start upgrading the weapons you really start to dig into the options. The gun play forces you to be more tactical and keep close to your squad mates. Only issue is lake of horsies.
Also waiting for the first weapon balance. The first assault and support weapons are by far the best in the game and medic smgs are pretty bad. The KE7 has no flaws.
Ke7 is op Sturmgewehr is ok 1907 is my goto for assault Sten junk Carbine meh Oh and wtf happened to using melee weapons to break wirr and wood. that was awesome.
I think that will be added in. They need to tweak the fortifications. One frag can wipe out whole sections of sand bags. Also would like to be able to build sandbag walls halfway. This game will be updated/balanced a ton. They don’t even have the dragging teammates feature in that they had in all the trailers.
I was wondering about the teammate dragging. I think the sandbags should be more robust though. It sucks spending time to build a fortification, only to have it be blown up by a single grenade.
The female death screams are hilariously bad. Sounds like a small animal being squished. I know that whole thing was a controversy, not that I cared, but they did end up making changes. No more women (and maybe men?) of color on the axis side like was present in the beta.
Yeah the Female screams are incredible. The funniest thing about the people losing their shit over them being in the game is that a lot of people are using them. If they were added as playable French Resistance fighters or Russians no one would bat an eye. Imo the French Resistance need their due. Apparently in the update you'll be able to drag your downed teammates to safety. The PIAT is a sweet mortar replacement. Finally made use of the mini map. I took out a few tanks already. I cannot for the life of me get used to using the semi auto rifles. I'm just not quick enough. I've been tanking my KD just to rank up to add specs to be remotely competitive. I have a buddy who runs the gehwer 43 with a 3x scope lol. Close quarters I look silly trying to shoot with them. And for some reason I feel like I don't see people as well as they see me. I got the MG42 and mow people down. But there's been times I've been sniped from people that don't show on my screen from the same area I'm attacking. I took a clip and watched it and still don't see the guy. Btw he sniped with a fucking Sten. So I was angry af. I'm probably the worst rank 50 in the game. PTFO baybe! This game is beautiful. Cannot say it enough. Just need Moscow or Stalingrad, Kursk, The Bulge Op Market Garden, Iwo Jima? And Berlin. Midway would be cool for people who can fly but I can't so I'll probably eat shit on the ground like usual.
Gonna miss BF1 but this has grown on me. Kind of disappointed in the maps but half that is just knowing where to go. Finally the game types blow. How many variations of frontlines do you need? Couple times in the infantry based games it was well over half an hour of controlling a point, losing the next, falling back, controlling etc... repeated. Those are my complaints. I do like all the different classes and what they can do. Fun to spot and snipe. Also need to figure out how to modify weapons.
Grand operations are a mess. The first two days don’t even matter and one of the days on Hamada is just a straight up conquest assault match. Breakthrough is fun though.
I’m sure this will get ironed out but to me it seems like controlling points does not mean shit. I’ve lost plenty of Conquest games where I was on a team that controlled all but one point for 90% of the game and we still lost. I think that needs some balancing.
There is some gimmicky comeback mechanic in place. DICE said they’re going to tune it down. If your team is winning 150ish to say 50 the win is not a given. It does give an incentive to defend points though. I’ve found myself doing much more of that in this game.
