Didnt get any submissions for April, ( A great sign for the health of book club!) so we're doing 2nd and 3rd place finishers from the last two months, plus a submission from our fearless leader Babel: Or the Necessity of Violence: An Arcane History of the Oxford Translators' Revolution, by RF Kuang Demon Copperhead, by Barbara Kinglsover The Magnificent Ambersons by Booth Tarkington A Man Called Ove - Fredrik Backman
Oooh! I just finished magnificent ambersons so let’s do that one. My SOP is that I take all the books from the list and reserve them through Libby immediately so that no matter what is picked I’ll be able to get in that month. Then turns out that I listen to all of them and it becomes my reading list.
Voted for Demon Copperhead. Have read A Man Called Ove and loved it tho (love everything by Fredrick Blackman)
Thirding a man called ove, and love anything by Backman. But I've already read it so I'll choose something else...
I figured I was in the minority having not read it. I’ve read Beartown and enjoyed it but not any of the sequels yet.
I didn’t realize that it was a 100 year old book until I finished it. I try to avoid any spoilage until after. How the switch flipped with the son after all of the free went away seemed sudden but I’ve seen that with our daughter.
