If you set the button to something else, it puts a ring/silent switch in control center (swipe down from the top right)
I have a shortcut that turns on/off always on display. I don’t like always on except when I’m on Lunch break.
Mine is set to pull up the camera right now. There are a lot of instances where I want to snap a quick picture and this is super slick. With that said, I also have the camera button at the bottom of my Lock Screen so I need to swap one or the other for something else.
Lol I just went to look at the options for the action button and apparently, at some point I created a shortcut to "tell Chikfila that I'm here." I need to know if anyone out there goes to chikfila so much they have that as their action button.
Reddit had a list of ideas too and one of them was a shortcut to order a pizza for delivery. Kind of brilliant really.
I don't have the action button, but if I did, I would have it run the shortcut I have setup that provides me with a menu of shortcuts to run. I call it an action menu. Shortcuts I have on it are open camera, toggle flashlight, toggle my floor lamp, toggle my smart plug, calculate tip, add calendar event, scan qr code, open weather app, send message, QuickScan, add reminder, speak body of article in safari, and shazam
Unboxed my Pro Max yesterday. Amazing how simple and efficient the process is switching over from an old iPhone. Thank you, Tim Apple.
My 15 pro max was down to like 1 percent so I plugged it into a power bank. Came back a few minutes later and it was dead. Now it won’t charge or turn back on. I have tried about 50 different combinations of blocks and cables. Also tried a couple different wireless chargers. Going to have to drive an hour to the only Apple Store in Atlanta with an appointment today. FUCK.
My 13 pro max did this and I feel like I held the power button down for what seems like a minute + and it finally came back on.
Question for the group. Have an Apple Watch Series 6. Wore it all the time including when taking a shower or swimming. Went to the lake and after swimming it was having phantom touches to the point it made a couple emergency calls when I wasn’t watching it. I turned it off for a day or so and let it dry complete and now when I turn it on. It just flashes the apple logo for a second and goes dark. There is an option to send it in for repair. They want me to pay $299 as I assume they will just send me a refurbished one as a replacement. The new series 9 versions are $429 for basically a brand new one. Is there any reason it makes sense to go the repair route?
I can’t help with the decision beyond pointing out the stainless steel is more like $700, so the math isn’t just a $130 difference if you want the sturdier version.
There is no water resistance change between the aluminum and stainless steel options, so not sure why you’re bringing that up. The Ultra might be a better option because it has a better resiliency.
I’d also suggest taking it off when you shower. These things aren’t water immune and those chemicals are likely slowly wearing away at the seals.
Yea I considered that once this happened. My original one lasted for years and never had any issues. appreciate the input.
I got my first Apple Watch about a month ago - the Ultra 2. I have zero complaints and the extra battery life is worth the money for me - especially for only $50 vs the 45mm 9.
i'd wait and see the smudge/fingerprint test on the black before buying it got the 2021 MBP space grey and I hate that shit
I'm going to need a new watch here soon. Does anyone have the Ultra and really like it? Is the price justifiable? I've seen a couple deals lately, but hoping for something on Black Friday.
I want a cellular, and the ultra is only a little bit more, so I went with that. Love it for the extra battery.
That's my same reasoning. The only thing really holding me back is having pencil wrists and 49mm is scaring me on how big it'll be. But I guess what is 5 more mm when I have the 44mm.
I’ve noticed with iOS 17 my battery life sucks. 14 pro max. Battery health is 90% today it’s 10:45 and I’m at 44% battery. Mainly used for podcasting today. Did go for an hour run holding it but using watch to track the run. Damn watch is still at 80%. Been texting and browsing using phone etc. Nothing strenuous. Never been this issue before. Not used to requiring to charge it during the day anyone else ?
Sounds like they perfected the device and operating system a couple iterations ago and are just running it in the ground to keep selling
I tend to think iOS 17 is having issues with background activity. Uber and other heavy background apps (in this case your run activity) have been battery killers. It’s also the first iOS I’ve had where the yahoo sports app never updates scores unless I manually do it. So something seems broken with that.
