I realize given the demographics that it may be a long shot but was wondering if there were any battle rap fans here. Not talking the Supa Hot Fire or Epic Rap Battles of History type shit but the actual entity, stuff like URL or King of the Dot. It's certainly not everybody's cup of tea nor is it the most progressive art form still but there are some real talented lyricists and performers in the battle world. Pat Stay (one of the biggest battle rappers from Canada) was recently tragically killed the other day and everyone from Eminem to Drake was paying tribute to him on social media. the way he commanded the stage on his first URL battle in America was
Supa Hot Fire is undefeated and I don't see that ever changing (don't mention the Soulja Boy battle, doesn't count)
not sure if serious but there are some very talented British battle rappers it's all so oversaturated nowadays because URL has their own app and deal with Caffeine so they are constantly churning out battles but Lux is still Final Boss level. Even if most people had him losing to Geechi Gotti in his last big battle
The ability, intelligence, IQ, whatever you want to call it to be able to come up with this shit on the fly has always been mind blowing to me.
the current modern YouTube/streaming era of battle rap is all pre-written although there are people who are incredible at coming up with on-the-spot rebuttals like Charron, DNA, Geechi Gotti or Charlie Clips the Rap Olympics/World Rap Championships era that produced Eminem and TheSaurus/Illmaculate was all freestyle though
