From what I hear, these fucking kids these days dont even want to go through as much effort as walking in to a home depot to apply for a job. Like if they cant find and apply for your opening from their phone, you will never even get any applications. #oldmanshakingfistatsky
I’ve sponsored a few 40s-50s guys straight out of rehab and I had to teach them how to apply for jobs these days. You can walk in to as many places as you want, but they are all going to tell you to fill out an application online.
No one let's you apply in person anymore. It's sucks because applying online should be easier in a perfect work but it makes it much harder to get a job
This. Lil man went around last spring to places inquiring and it was always go online. Think he applied to upwards of 30 places and only heard back from 2.
Please submit your resume also please fill out these 20 pages where you tell us exactly what’s already on your resume
Showing in person at least let's you stand out some. You can also follow up in person to bother people to give you a shot. The online stuff makes it basically just a raffle you'll never win
Harder to fill a position too Half the applications that look decent won't respond to or will no show an interview The half that will just flat out lied on their applications
I think most are just going through the motions where someone has to post the job but they already have someone in mind they know
the main point of those online application systems is for the company to cover its ass for EOE requirements. people waste way too much time filling them out in detail, especially before ever interviewing or getting an offer.
Friday and Saturday night when we're slammed - "I need to take a mental health day". Last minute both times.
We approve mental health days - it's usually not ideal when you do it with no notice twice in a row so we have zero chance to get a cover. It also completely bones your teammates.
As someone that has worked in a restaurant, it's ok for a fellow cook or server to give you grief for calling in. No one wants the manager/supervisor/owner to do it.
Eathan Edwards give me their phone numbers and I will anonymously call them and harass them for taking time off and make their mental health worse
I think it’s ok for him to be annoyed about it and even more so to vent about it here rather than some other way.
My work laptop’s time is nearly 2 minutes behind the time on my phone. I cannot change the time on my work laptop. I kept wondering why I was the last one to join every meeting
A bunch of parent-company guys who are down this week are toilet savages. One guy flagrantly violated urinal buffer etiquette and another was on a work call while wiping his ass (could hear the paper rustle mid-call).
As someone who worked as a bartender and server through college and for some time after, go fuck yourself calling in week of with no cover for a mental health break. That puts your other colleagues under extra stress. You can also get coverage for another day if you need a break. Your mental health isn’t an appropriate excuse to fuck other people over.
If I need a day off, I’m gonna take it. If the organization can’t handle me being out a couple days then management is failing.
I'm not going to feel bad it became slightly more difficult for someone to make more money because I needed a day off from their shit.
If one person calling in is catastrophic, get mad at whoever keeps you so understaffed instead of the people who need to take off (presumably because you’re so understaffed).
Yeah fuck you buddy. If you’re understaffing to the point that one person not being there causes everyone else undue stress, that’s on you. Mentally unwell is no different from being physically unwell.
It’s ok to be annoyed when someone calls out sick. It’s ok to complain about it. But it’s not ok to say their mental health is not an appropriate excuse to call out.
Yeah that Roy post epitomizes like a million things wrong with our work culture and restaurant industry
Annoying/cringeworthy things your work computer does: Hey, we're typing along in default font (Aptos). Oh you inserted a bullet point? You must want to randomly switch to a different font (Calibri) just for this line! Maybe let's throw the font size off one point too!
Got a grown adult in the office that sucks down the toddler apple sauce squeeze packs like he is a ripping a bong hit. Talking 6 or 7 of these things a day.
His food consumption for the day that started at 7:30 this morning. PB&J sandwich Cheetos Hot Dr Pepper pulled from his drawer. Apple Sauce Apple Sauce Fruit Roll Up Fruit Roll Up Cheetos Another hot Dr. Pepper Ritz bits crackers Cheetos
lmao, I feel guilty about eating string cheese that's mostly for kids, this is incredible. HAHAHAA, had a software dev friend at a tech company who had a co-worker like this that was nasty and wore basketball shorts everyday. His nickname was Dorito and nobody liked him.
god damn, does he struggle with his weight or is he 14 years old? That's what Professor Klump had in his drawer.
I honestly don't get it. He is really thin and in shape and is in the National Guard but he eats like a 5 year old without any rules. One morning he brought in one of those big ass Rubbermaid sauce bowls filled with milk and Lucky Charms and just went at it. Some days its a big Rubbermaid bowl filled with 3 or 4 cans of Spaghettios.
He calls his wife everyday around quitting time and I listen to them argue about which fast food joint they are hitting up on the way home for dinner. He just had a kid two weeks ago and I honestly do worry about the nutrition that kid is going to get.
I had a customer that was a total health nut and would suck stuff down like this so he could get a vegetable intake while traveling. He had so many health snacks that I didn't even know existed in his workspace. He wore an aura ring and I thought it was just a really shitty fashion statement until I saw a sideline reporter during an OSU game talk about the team wearing them.
