I don't think so. The Others seem to be the manifestations of that god. Bran is becoming one of the Old Gods, since he's interacting with the Children and the weirtrees.

Not really sure that R'llor ends up being a "good" god. The use of sacrifices and blood magic kind of point to him being a "bad" god. I'm kind of waiting for his "good" followers to be royally fucked over.

And the new Kings Guard guy is totally the Hound.

The new kings guard guy is Gregor, not the Hound.

Manderly killed the Freys, and he put them in the pie, all 3 of them. Manderly is a huge bad ass.

    Unsure about Bran.

The thing with GRRM is there is no "good" and "evil". I dont think Bran will join The Others side, but I doubt he is on the side of men as a whole.

The Hound is alive, at the island that Brienne visited in AFFC. He is the grave digger. The new kings guard is Un-Gregor.

One good thing is that GRRM wrote the first 3 books pretty quickly, 1 every 2 years. Not sure if many of yall know, but there was supposed to be this 5 year gap between after ASOS so the children could age and whatnot, but we all see how that went.

I wonder if there is a "Great Other", but I think they are what they are. The wall was built to stop them.

What is the basis for thinking the hound was the grave digger?

His horse was in their stable and Brienne notices that the gravedigger is huge, especially compared to the rest of the brothers. He also walks with a limp and people think that's because of how hurt he was when Arya left him.

Might be more but I can't remember

Put them in the pie? Did I miss that in the book?

I am shocked that 5 books in and we know nothing about the Others (what they are, where they come from, etc)

I really hope GRRM gets inspired and get get the next couple of books out within 5 years. I don't think its unreasonable for his fans to expect that. This 5 year per book shit isn't going to work. There were a lot of problems in writing AFFC and ADWD so hopefully he's solved that problem and knows where the story is going from here on out.

Yea that septon was telling Brienne about how he was a knight and the battle he fought in. He tells Brienne that he was killed at the Battle of the Trident and washed up naked at the Quiet Isle and that he was reborn. When the Hound was found by the septon, he begs him for mercy but since the septon has sworn not to kill he bathes him in the river instead and gives him wine. Also the Hound's driving force in life was his hate for his brother and his wish to kill Gregor and since the Red Viper took that from him he "dies" in the septon's arms.

So you got a huge novice with a limp that also happens to like dogs. I didn't catch it at first either but once you think about it, it's pretty obvious.

Yea I don't think he put them in the pie. I mean he was eating good sized portions of everything and Manderly doesn't strike me as the cannibal type. But I do think he killed them

Yea the spearwives were responsible for all the murders at Winterfell imo

I was talking about the Freys that went missing on the road after they rode ahead of the Manderly's

Oh, ya. Either Manderly did it or Caitlyn got ahold of them since she was in the business of hanging Frey's.

I thought the Spearwives said they didn't get the Frey kid but admitted to the other Winterfell murders.

Also, I don't get people liking Victorian. His legacy is getting smashed by Stannis and repeatedly punked by Euron. The only battles he seems to win is over fishing vessels or other non-war ships. Fuck Victorian, I can't wait to see him fail again (like all of the worthless Greyjoys).

He will smash the Yunkai on the Skahzhadahn and then get killed by a dragon

eh, books 4 and 5 have been all about the journey each character is taking to their eventual, final plot arc

books 6 and 7 are where we will see which pov's were truly worth the reads

I am cautiously optomistic about the next few books. That interview with GRRM that was posted on this board talked about how he wrote a FfC for a few years, then scrapped almost the entire thing and started over new again. And it's been somewhat known that the whole Meerenese knot took up some unnecessary time in him putting the book out.

But this is GRRM we are talking about :rockchalkcoronary:

He totally put the Freys in the pie, and at them too.

Read the scene again, check out which songs he demands "The Rat Cook"

    quick copy past from westeros

Wedding Feast at Winterfell. Manderly provides the food. He tells the guests that this will be the best pie they have ever eaten. He serves slices of all three pies personally to the high table and Fat Walda eats from all three. Manderly's joy and happiness, from a man who has no cause to love Boltons or Freys, is particularly notable in this scene. Roose suspects something is wrong and will only eat once he has seen Manderly tuck in. When Reek leaves he hears drunken Manderly ask for the song about the Rat King (who baked the Andal King's son in a pie and served him up to his father as an act of revenge).
Later. Manderly tells the Northern and Frey Lords that the three Freys left Manderly with their guest gifts before witnesses. Note the way in which Manderly describes his Frey guests and his remark when they find the dead Frey boy.

explanation: Manderly gave the Freys guest gifts, from that point they were no longer protected by guest right, Freys then killed by Manderly's men and probably cooked off. The Freys are baked into three giant wedding pies and served at the wedding feast. Manderly ensures that all the Freys and Boltons eat their kinsmen as revenge for the Red Wedding and the murder of his Son. The North remembers.

I thought we needed 2-3 Ironborn POV's total. All the stuff with Damphair was pointless. Asha had too many POV's, Victarion didn't need any POV's....Euron's was the only one that really moved the plot forward. Same with Dorne, we didn't need all of those Dorne POV's, just a couple.

and in victarion's book 4 POV he catches a knight's sword with his armored hand as its being swung and the wound festers so the red priest he has uses his magic to heal it

The red priest heals it with his fire magic.

Victarion comes out on deck, kills the Maester, gives him to the drowned god. Captures a ship full of sex slaves. Throws all the gay boys into the ocean, takes the 7 prettiest girls, puts them on a boat, burns it to sacrifice them to the Drowned God and R'hollor.

    Its why he is awesome.

c/p from the spoiler thread on TOTH

I'm extremely confused as to what happened at Winterfell after we left the scene. It seems like Ramsay really did find Mance Rayder and flip out. But, did he really find and slaughter Stannis host? If he did, wouldn't he have Reek and fake Arya back? Unless they somehow rode off before battle started. But why and how? There was not enough food to send them off with. I'm thinking maybe Manderly finally set something in motion TELLING Ramsay that they killed Stannis's host?

would be pretty tough to pull off since I doubt Ramsay trusts Manderly at all and he has plenty of his own men, but I thought it was an interesting theory nonetheless.

agreed. maybe not really a fan of martell's daughter but i think its pretty essential to the story and the complete chaos that is westeros. sets everything up for the return of dany.

personally i think martell is a badass the way he's planned everything out and sat and been patient.

Read an article in entertainment weekly with GRRM where he said the editors made him cut a giant battle scene out of the book and move it to the next book which makes me wonder if the Boltons did smash Stannis' army and the letter wasn't bullshit. The other explanation could be the battle at Mereen with Selmy leading against the Yunki'i

Ok who's the mummer's dragon from the prophecy? I got everyone else but can't place that one

"Soon comes the pale mare, and after her the others. Kraken and dark flame, lion and griffin, the sun's son and the mummer's dragon"

Also I think coldhands is benjen, not warged but actually him. I think his "soul" survived his turning and the others couldn't control him. Or maybe not.

I think its mummer's dragon. Aegon as a real targaryan is Aragorn all over again and fucks with Dany's claim. Something her character would care about.

Mummers dragon can be taken both ways. Varys was a mummer at one point, or Aegon is a fake. I dont think he is the REAL Aegon, I think Gregor got him.

I think Aegon, Young Griff, is Illyrio's son, by way of his wife that died of greyplague. Why else would that fat fuck who is rich as shit care about westeros and who is king?

Morroquo or whatever his name is. The Red Priest that Victarion pulled out of the water. They dressed him in black clothes and his crewmen called him "black flame" (i believe, or something close to that) because they couldn't pronounce his name. At least that's who I think it is.
