I bet it was made clear that the South American bid gets 2030, the Euro bid gets 2034 and Saudi will have to wait until 2038 at the earliest.

Honestly I bet you see a decentralized approach to the World Cup soon. The tournament is getting too big.

4-5 different countries host the group stage, first round of knockouts and quarterfinals.

Then a single nation hosts the semifinals and final.

 

“Hey you just made the World Cup, congrats you’re going to have to fly half way across the world in between your first and second game.”

Honestly any of those options or pairings would have been great. Spain and Portugal? Spain & Morocco? Some combination of Uruguay, Argentina & Paraguay? All are elite places to visit with incredible culture in awesome parts of the world. Just fucking pick one. So of course we get this nonsense.
