NIL obviously plays a part, but Drink is a pretty good recruiter in general. He pulled in two highly ranked classes before NIL started. I think NIL allows them to actually win some of the recruiting battles against the bigger schools instead of constantly being 2nd choice ect
Mizzou has a lot of money and they target their instate talent pretty well. The state also passed the law for HS kids to get NIL from the instate schools iirc?
There's a handful of mega donors that push a lot of money into it. But also Mizzou has done are really good job of getting local businesses involved. Burden has his own potato chips by a local chip company that he gets a cut of. He and Cook are poster boys for Imos. Pretty good combo of mega donors and getting bigger businesses around the state to hire the players for shit. The state law is kids in the state that commit to in state schools can receive NIL. Im sure some SLU bball players can take advantage of it, but the bill is pretty much for Mizzou.
I know this. They've got their stuff together and I'm not trying to knock them. I'm just skeptical of the premise (for everyone) that a "final offer" in the spring/summer means a whole lot in November and December. Although, like PSU12 said, sometimes QBs are a bit different there.
I think they have the best I’ve seen relative to historic football status. I’ve said it before, and he’s a total goober, but I really like Drink. He clearly knows how to make it work in this era.
He could be a really good OT, but it sounds like he has no interest in making that move. Was really hoping he’d come around to the idea.
bet it's already happened kid probably isn't as much against the idea of playing OT as he is against playing OT at ohio state
Fong has Alvin Henderson to Penn State, Zion Grady to Miami, and Husan Longstreet to A&M. Thought we might get Longstreet after his A Day visit
He might. Definitely one of those kids who will keep taking visits I would imagine. He's cousins with a RB in the 2024 class that was committed to us, and at one point we thought we'd eventually sign both. Now Cadillac is gone, we let Burnette go, and now Henderson has been looking at Miami, Penn State, and basically anyone but us. I think we will focus on Anthony Rogers in the meantime.
