They might end up being wrong, but they obviously didn’t like those two guys. I for one don’t like worthy. Don’t have a take on Legette. I like pearsall. But they obviously have a particular player in mind.
The Penix pick is insane, but I really don't understand the PR strategy here from Cousins and his agent to make sure everyone knows how shocked he was and how he's not happy about it. Why broadcast that out there like this?
I don't believe KC told them who they were trading up for. Carolina, yes, but not KC. Which means there was a risk. Plus not knowing if SF takes the one you want
They might not tell them but I’m sure the bills knew they were targeting worthy. He has been mocked to kc for weeks and he fits their mold of receivers.
Per Matt Miller The excitement of the first round is over but there are still a ton of good players on the board. Let’s run through some of them. TOP 10 BPA: 1. Cooper DeJean, Iowa 2. Adonai Mitchell, WR, Texas 3. Kool-Aid McKinstry, CB, Alabama 4. Jer'Zhan Newton, DL, Illinois 5. Ladd McConkey, WR, Georgia 6. Jackson Powers-Johnson, C, Oregon 7. Ennis Rakestraw Jr., CB, Missouri 8. Kingsley Suamataia, OT, BYU 9. Junior Colson, LB, Michigan 10. Jonathan Brooks, RB, Texas...
if buffalo has a bunch of wrs all rated about the same its probably worth improving later picks even if they arent adding new selections also dont think the pearsall pick signals that aiyuk is heading out of town no real reason to trade him, especially since it behooves them to be all in while purdy is still dirt cheap
I’m just glad they didn’t take another CB coming off multiple back surgeries. Or put all their oline eggs in the reach for a small school OL that had a good senior bowl week basket. Plus we got a massive upgrade in online coach. Just let me have the dream that he won’t bust, until the season starts and it happens.
Reminder the bills told Diggs they’d trade him anywhere but KC. But they traded with them today. Obviously they still think Diggs has some juice but were not petrified of who KC could get in the draft.
And that’s fair. Still kinda crazy to let KC go get someone they clearly wanted, even if BUF didn’t. Especially since the Chiefs didn’t really give up much
Kudos to the Bills. Now they can use some of them picks to maybe find a guy or two to cover the receiver the Chiefs just drafted.
i would’ve been perfectly happy staying at 32 and taking any of Worthy/Legette/McConkey/Mitchell, but Veach is a “go get your guy” GM and I assume he thought the 9ers were a threat. I am genuinely shocked the Bills did a deal with us, just assumed they were on the never listen list with the other afc contenders
Not worried about the recent history of first round speedster WRs busting? I guess if I had mahomes and Reid I’d assume he will be all-pro by 2026
Yeah there's a real chance but he has a good track record working with guys like DeSean Jackson and Jeremy Maclin. Think recreating that was the goal all along.
Letting KC trade up for WRs it wants seems to be the only thing giving teams a chance these days so maybe people are looking at this wrong
That just seems dumb given the cap hit. But given the WR salaries maybe a team gives up quite a bit to lock Deebo in. He just seems worth more to the 9ers than any other team. Also seems like he may be trending down.
I am choosing to believe that SF wanted Worthy because it is funny to me to think their thought process was to pivot after losing the chance of drafting the fastest WR in NFL draft history to drafting a white slot receiver (who ran 4.4, but still) with the same pick.
Two of the last three WRs that KC has traded up for have scored touchdowns in the Super Bowl and the other one is Rashee Rice
He's also going to be 29 during this season and has injury/wear issues to consider. He is an absolute warrior though.
And they spent the many weeks before that getting blasted for underperforming. Chiefs, Reid and mahomes defy logic in that way. did they trade up for Skyy? He is objectively not very good but KC keeps on trucking
