Also - are the noms for OITNB for season 2 or 3? I think The Americans should be in over that, regardless of which season it is. However if it's season 3? Fucking woof.
- 34 nominations for Netflix. - Netflix garnered more Emmy noms than AMC (24) or Showtime (24), and almost caught FX (38) - 12 nominations for Amazon Prime. - HBO leads the Emmy nominations with 126. - Only broadcast series with 10 or more Emmy nominations: AmericanCrime, with 10. - Broadcast series w/ 5 or more Emmy noms: American Crime (10) DWTS/Downton/SNL/SYTYCD (8) TBBT/Letterman/ModernFamily/Voice (6) Simpsons (5)
Complete garbage. The Americans got one writing nomination and a nomination for Guest Actress. And it wasn't even the right guest actress. Lois Smith deserved that over Margo Martindale. It's sad that the Emmy voters consistently go with the status quo (House of Cards, Downton Abby, Mad Men, Homeland, GoT) when pretty much anyone with any reputablilty has stated that The Americans is the best show on TV. And OITNB? Give me a fucking break. That is one of the worst written/acted shows out there. Fuck this award show.
Shows/actors that I thought weren't outstanding that other people seem to love and ended up with noms: Transparent OITNB Maslany/Orphan Black Anthony Anderson Lisa Kudrow Empire And lack of Leftovers, Halt & Catch Fire, and Americans is crazy. I'd take each over every show(at least their most recent seasons) in best drama category, save for GoT.
Also the Ben Mendelsohn vs Dinklage vs Banks showdown for supporting actor is incredible. Truman add to OP Outstanding Supporting Actor In A Drama Series Jonathan Banks, Better Call Saul Ben Mendelsohn, Bloodline Jim Carter, Downton Abbey Peter Dinklage, Game Of Thrones Alan Cumming, The Good Wife Michael Kelly, House Of Cards
Anthony Anderson plays basically the same part as he has in almost every role. I find the show amusing but never have I thought I was witnessing an award worthy role.
StinkusP1nkus gonna have to disagree with your take on Malsany. Orphan Black has dipped a bit, but her performance(s) are still pretty amazing
I dont think I have ever wanted an actor to win an award more than I do Hamm this year. The best male category is always the most loaded category but I think it would be a shame for him to have never won an emmy for Don Draper.
I think it helped that I didn't fly through it this season. I watched it over the course of two or three weeks. Made it more enjoyable than season 2. Season 1 was just great TV so binging or watching slow wasn't going to change how much I enjoyed it.
I stopped watching, but she's so good on that show. Couldn't agree more. Amazing that MM has never won an acting Emmy.
I mean, she does an incredible job and the show is entertaining (though the concept has worn off a bit and detracts from its current value to me), but I just never get the feeling that she's doing so well that I can't imagine other actresses pulling it off. Then again, I guess you could say that about pretty much every role.
There's a lot of good TV these days so there are bound to be snubs but there are some terrible choices on there. Downton, HoC, OITNB and Homeland shouldn't be nominated for Best Drama. When is the love for Modern Family going to end? Show hasn't been funny for years. Can't believe Jim Parsons didn't get nominated. Great surprise. Really hope Parks & Rec and Mad Men get the wins for their final seasons.
Glad Better Call Saul and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt got some love. Did not expect those to be nominated for best show in their respective categories.
Didn't hate OITNB as much as some but Ray Donovan should easily be in there before it and House of Cards as well.
Thought the biggest snubs for Drama series were The Leftovers and The Americans. Would've included Hannibal but don't think it was eligible this year due to the > 12 month hiatus between seasons.
I don't have an issue with Downton Abbey. It's very well acted and written, IMO. House of Cards makes zero sense.
Agreed. It'll be a travesty if he doesn't win. Similar to Steve Carell never winning for The Office. I'm not expecting him to win though. The TV Academy seems to make their minds up on actors/shows from the beginning and then stick with it. Those fuckers will probably give it to Spacey or Daniels.
Didn't watch Mad Men so not gonna argue for anyone, seen all the others and would put Odenkirk or Liev well above the others. Jeff Daniels did win a few years ago and Damian Lewis too so who knows, thought both were terrible picks.
I like Ray Donovan but no way does schreiber belong in this discussion. He never has to show any facial expressions and just mumbles and grunts all show. Having said that, I hate award shows, and dont really care who wins. But I do love the discussion it spawns.
After winning at the Golden Globes earlier this year, I'm a little shocked that The Affair didn't get any nominations in the big categories.
Think he's pretty damn good without saying or showing much. Whatever though, not gonna argue too hard for him. Would put Phillip on the Americans above Chandler, Daniels, and Spacey. I like Chandler a lot but not exactly sure what he did to get nominated.
He's fucking Coach ERIC TAYLOR! that's why. I thought he was very good on Bloodlines. Agree on Matthew Rhys (Phillip) Would put him over Shrieber or Spacey imo.
I think Mad Men will clean house, as it should. Hamm has always had to go against an unbelievable line up, it's time he takes one home
