yeah this is basically my list as for albums dropout mbdtf late registration (gotta admit heard em say might be one of my favorite ye songs) 808's throne summer graduation - minus good life and some other songs, that album really doesn't stand the test of time to me. especially barry bonds, that might be his woat song
1. Get 'em High (Toughest choice by far) 2. Diamonds from Sierra Leone (Remix) 3. Flashing Lights 4. Heartless 5. All of the Lights 6. Primetime 7. Clique
His performance from this past weekend sounds amazing. Link has some videos that got me pretty hype. http://grantland.com/hollywood-pros...n-and-conquers-fyf-fest/?ex_cid=story-twitter
A couple of rumors I've read in recent weeks--1) He scrapped part of his new album after hearing Drake's last record, and 2) Piss on Your Grave is on Travis Scott's new LP (been rumored to be on So Help Me God/Swish).
if that's true, i'd guess it's because he thought drake's album was much better and didn't want to put out a sub par product.
He probably wasn't happy with the quality in comparison. Yeezy demands the best but you already know.
figure he shouldn't take listening to someone else to realize your music was subpar. like a chef about to release a new dish but tastes one from the competing restaurant down the street and says he has to rework his dish before he releases it. It seems reasonable, I guess.... but seems like someone like Yeezy is striving for a certain sound and greatness without worrying about the quality work of other artists. Also, albums would get delayed all the time if people were constantly comparing their upcoming albums to the top albums in the genre
i wasn't a big drake fan, but if you're reading this went hard as fuck. all of the work he's put out in 2015 has been top notch. back me up OopsPowSurprise
I listened to Reading this and just couldn't get into it. I think I put up a mental block long ago. oh well
not to derail (not like it matters since Ye is making us wait), but this was hard as fuck there's a whole thread on him bodying meek mill so i won't post back 2 back
drake's album was great, idgaf. nothing was the same was solid too. then he released hotline bling, right hand, back to back which were all good too. dude's having an amazing year. and let's be real here, all day wouldn't even track on yeezus or mbdtf. it really lost its luster compared to a lot of kanye's catalog - its a good song but basically disappeared after 6 weeks or so. power still gets burn, and i could pop graduation on and it'd still be great. that wasn't there with all day.
not saying drake >>> kanye, that's absurd. but i get why he waited, especially if all day was what he wanted to bring as a single - his single for yeezus was new slaves and black skinhead
i can't explain why i don't really listen to it anymore. i loved it when it came out, especially how he debuted it, but it just didn't stick. i still enjoy it though.
I believe, maybe others do as well, that Kanye has peaked musically. He can still make great albums, which I sure hope he does. But I doubt he makes anything better than his previous great albums. Just assuming this from recent work, his general weirdness and celebrity-ness. Kinda like Jay-Z. You know anything he releases from now on will be good, but his best is behind him. Hope he proves me wrong though.
that wouldn't surprise me, but i'm still going to give him the benefit of the doubt until he proves me wrong.
Dude. Completely agree. It's like the live version was so hype that I couldn't even get behind the studio track. I'm at the point where I don't want it in the new album and hope it's just a random single.
I feel like it's a stand alone Sounds like it should have been on yeezus but then he changed it a bit and added mccartney
After reading this thread, I went back and listened to the live version again. So much better than the studio version. Idk if this makes sense, but it felt "grander". The beat hit harder/felt more spread out.
Kanye is going to be performing 808's and Heartbreak in full at the Hollywood Bowl on September 25. Planning to buy a ticket for my brother who lives there for his birthday. its pretty obvious he never had his shit together for this album and he is just going to piece together a bunch of songs. with no single vision it will probably disappoint.
here's travis scott's mixtape that is imo very good excited for rodeo https://soundcloud.com/travisscott-2/sets/days-before-rodeo i bet that's why he pushed it back
He's performing tonight at the VMA's. I'm guessing it will be a career-spanning medley sort of thing (he's receiving a 'lifetime achievement' type of award), but maybe he'll perform a new song as well?
yeah well I am hoping he is actually putting some work in with the extra time. he is always in such a hurry to announce he has an album in the works when it isnt even close to complete.
