Ody constantly threw up his food when he was younger. He once ate so much and drank so much his stomach was expanded bigger than the rest of his body for a full day. After trying multiple things like soaking his food in water and feeding it to him a few pieces at a time, the thing that helped most was getting larger food so that he HAD to chew it better and it wouldn't upset his stomach as much.

Like given for naming your dog cooper like every other super super intelligent person does. That being said people have gone insane with that name recently from my experience at the dog park.

I named him cooper because it was a name I didn't really hear a lot for dogs and now there have to be at least 7 to 8 coopers at the park i take him to. It makes me want to rage because I thought I was picking a slightly unique name and apparentley every mother fucker and their mom names their dog that.

Redford has gone through this a lot. Vet says to take all food and water away for 24 hours until the stomach lining is no longer inflamed. It needs to heal. You can also give him an antacid or a peptol pill.

If you are having problems with dogs eating too fast, another option is throw a kong ball or two in the food bowl. Gives them an obstacle in there until they figure out to pick it up lay it on the floor.

    Hey guys,

JollyRoger here. Cooper has been chewing the shit out of the bottom of my couch. He's been doing pretty good about chewing otherwise but he seems to be really drawn to this one part. Have any of you used anything like an anti-chew spray that I can put on that area of the couch or something?

I'll listen off the air thanks. Please enjoy this picture of Cooper chewing on his raw-hide while you think about your answer.

I tried the sour apple stuff, but it didnt work too well. Doesnt mean it wont work for you though. You could also just spray him with water too. I did that, and he got the hang pretty quick.

    Thanks,

I never give Tru that much at once. Usually I let him just lick the knife after I made a sandwich.

That is hilarios, definitely going to give him a big spoonful after watching that

I've been really trying to avoid negative reinforcement but he's having a few issues that aren't being solved by positive reinforcement so this might end up what I do.

I'd just hate it if he ended up being scared of me, ya know?

I know what your saying, and you will get some guilt trips along the way, but once they learn the boundaries, it really is better. Plus, he wont be afraid of you from just spraying water.

I tried positive reinforcement as much as possible. I worked really well for somethings like potty training, and walking with pulling on the leash, but not as much with stuff like biting, and the story Im about to tell-

Just a personal story about feeling guilty - Truman was always pretty obedient in the home and on the leash, but when I took him to Wiggly Field, he wouldnt listen at all. Id try to get him to leave and it was a keep away game. Then when he got to about 7 months, he would figured out he could jump the fence. I tried to get him to stop, but I had no success, it wasnt that big of a deal because he wouldnt jump out of the park, just to the other side of the park, mostly just to taunt the other dogs. Pretty funny actually.

Welp, one day he decided to jump OUT of the park and was playing keep away from me during rush hour, running back and forth across Sheffield. Needless to say, it scared the living shit out of me. I felt horrible about it, but I took him straight home, threw his ass in the crate, and went to Petco to get a shock collar.

At first using the shock collar was awful. He hated it, and was terrified of me. It was the worst guilt trip ever.

I was almost ready to give up on it, then one day (5 or 6 days in) it just clicked, and he got it. Now he is the most obedient dog ever. He is fun and playful, and doesnt jump the fence anymore. Some times the ball bounces over the fence to the other side of the park, and he will run to the fence and look at me to get permission before he goes over. I dotn even put the collar on him that much anymore. Just maybe once or twice a week if that. And - since figuring it out, he is even more attached to me than ever.

sorry for the long story, but I thought it may apply/help

Definitely a good story. I guess I'm just hesitant because he's so young (3 months).

If things don't change soon though I'm definitely going the water bottle route. He's been an absolute piece of shit the last couple nights.

Honestly, there really isnt reason to wait - that kind of behavior doesnt really stop on its own. He is young and teething. He has to chew on something. I alway had the water bottle around, and a toy of his to chew on. Truman loved to chew on the leg of the coffee table. I would just say NO loudly and clap my hands, wait for him to stop, then give him a toy to redirect the chewing. Once he started workign on the toy, I praised the shit out of him. Worked pretty well.

Change up the toys a lot helps too. Keep a couple on the shelf for a couple days, then rotate them in. Its like getting a new toy, and hopefully is more fun to chew on than the couch

wow, i might have to do that, do you have a buzzer for it? bullitts is vibration activated that does it when he barks but i know there are versions for when they misbehave and you can buzz them.

Yeah, this is what I have for Truman. It has a beep, a nick (which is a tiny warning shock) and a full out shocker.

I actually used the beep as a positive reinforcement. After our first attemp (which was horrible) I kept it on him most of the weekend, and rang the beeper and immediately gave him a treat. Beep, treat. Beep, Treat. all weekend long. After a while, I hit the beep, and he would stop what he was doing and run over to me and sit. Then he realized that once he started to look at the fence and think about jumping was when he was getting buzzed.

At first, he caught me off gaurd, and jump the fence before I had a chance to zap him a few times. You really have to get them the second they do something wrong for it to click.

I would only zap him if he looked like he was going to jump, but he started listening better for every command. It was such a blessing in disguise. I think C A N E got one for his dogs and has had some success.

Ps - buy it online. This is $137 on this website. Im sure you could find it cheaper if you looked around a bit. I paid $210 @ Petco  I was so desparate to get it for him, I didnt want to wait. I ended up getting online and returning the petco one though.
