having a terrible time with her biting everything in sight. wife is big on the no physical punishment but i'm about to break out the big stick. any suggestions?
Yeah, biting/ chewing was a problem. She was excellent with going to the restroom, but I lost about 5 pairs of shoes, a pair of cowboy boots, a couch cushion, and 3 dog beds before I learned to put everything possible away and use a spray bottle.
As long as I keep her going, she's fine. My schedule makes it tough sometimes, so she can have her bad days, but with the spray and a little reinforcement, the shoe thing finally stopped. They just have so much energy, if you don't keep them entertained/exercised, they'll get into something for sure.
Water usually works, but I've heard of people using different solutions. I know Shocker 's significant other uses a water and vinegar mix and sprays it in the eyes of their puppy. Edit: I do not condone spraying water/vinegar in the eyes of puppies.
Shannan's a BAD BITCH there's no doubt. Best part was that the puppy had pink eye and she accidentally sprayed her in that eye and then she just started crying hysterically while I'm trying to shut her up so that I can focus on FIFA...
I was so pissed yesterday... I saw this bad ass wild looking stray dog standing behind my car while I was waiting for a train to cross. So, I roll down my window and this dog comes right over and sits by my door, even let's me pet him. I give him a bunch of water out of like the 46 water bottles I have all about in my car... Dog is nice as fuck so I decide I am going to take this fucker with me and find him a home, but then some motherfucker (truck driving white trash piece of shit) blows his horn because the train had crossed and scares the little feller off. Bummed me out all day.
My dog, read: bad ass, loves the bitter apple stuff and vinegar. We sprayed bitter apple all over this awesome plant we have in our office, and she literally ate the entire plant the same day. Then, I sprayed her with vinegar the other day because she was crying in her crate and she spent the next 45 minutes licking up all the vinegar. God I love that dog.
Truman loved the bitter apple spray. He wasnt a horrible chewer, but he would gnaw on his leash. I soaked that thing ins the bitter apple. I took a nap on the couch. I woke up and it was in shreds.
Speaking of Layla, Wife and I came home last night to a mess in our living room and fuck me this dog is a goat. She destroyed a plastic coat hanger into 4 pieces, found a fried onion plastic container and tore off the label and chewed it all up, shreaded a soda can, tore the label off a soup can on chewed that, chewed up some tissues and a toilet paper roll, and by some miracle, opened the Super Mario Bros Wii game but left the box and the CD inside alone, just randomly open and in this pile. All of this in a pile in our living room. We come home and she greets us like "Yeah, soooo happy you're home. I missed you soooo much. Someone left a mess in the living room." I was told a few days ago wife came home from grocery shopping and found a bread wrapper on the floor. She ate a whole loaf of bread. Didn't find a crumb around the kitchen.
That is what I heard when we decided to get a beagle. Ours isn't noisy at all though. Barks less than all the dogs we come in contact with. The only time she really makes noise is if she sees a rabbit and is tailing it and occassionally when she wants to play and you are ignoring her. I think their reputation as a noisy breed comes from how unique their sound is and how loud they can be if they want to be. Trudy has the ability to be loud, but she rarely makes noise. We lived in an apartment the first 1.5 years of her life and she did fine.
Sleeping in the sun is Trudy's favorite. Every weekend morning she goes and lays where the sun is on the floor in the back of the house. As the sun moves on the floor, she moves as well until she is all the way in the corner and then the sun goes away.
I used a combo of this stuff called Bitter Yuck and something else that worked pretty well for me. Don't remember what the second one was though and I'll have to go check.
I usually like Malinois with a darker coat, but that's a gorgeous dog. I grew up with GSDs, but really want to get a Malinois sooner or later.
the face that dog is making in the second picture is so awesome talk about focusing on the task at hand
She's such a fucking cunt and has no clue about the real responsibilities. Even after we had two puppies together she didn't realize how much work goes into raising one.
dogs are way too much work. nero is really my girlfriends dog. I do literally zero to aid in his care and get to enjoy all of the benefits. I told my girlfriend that if we ever have kids to expect the same treatment.
