Ody is asleep on the couch right now. He's twitching, barking and growling. God he's so weird. Dude has some seriously intense dreams. He once barked in his sleep and woke himself up with said bark. He just sprung his head up and looked around with that "what in the fuck is going on" look on his face.
Truman playing with a Victorian Bulldog puppy. The Golden is Truman's buddy Moose, who gets really jealous when Truman plays with other dogs. Its pretty funny.
Not that I care about AKC recognized breeds, but the Portuguese Podengo Pequeno looks like a good dog. http://newsfeed.time.com/2013/01/12...vites-two-new-breeds-to-the-litter/?hpt=hp_t3
My oldest Lab nabbed the wife's Red Velvet Cake Mix from counter when no one was looking and took it outside...
Could not stop the words "Oh noooo" from coming out when saw this. Also, Red Velvet Cake is the fucking best. I didn't witness it personally, but one summer I was hanging out at my ex-gf's house and I always brought Ody with me to play with their dogs. Well anyway, we're grilling steaks for dinner and I go inside to wash up because everything is ready and Ody decides to grow a set of nuts and takes a freshly cooked steak right off a platter next to the grill. They didn't even tell me until after we ate dinner because they knew I would have gotten pissed at him. He must have been as a motherfucker chewing up a fucking NY strip in the backyard.
Meant to post in this thread sooner. But this is Coaley. I have no idea what type of dog she is. But she enjoys tearing shit up.
there was a service dog on my plane today. it was some kind of bully mix, all white with black spots on his skin. this is the best i could do without being a complete creeper.
yep, being indoors he sticks around me a lot more. He learned that pretty quickly this is a couple months old, but I was at the dog park near my folks house. the aus cattle dog wouldn't get in the water but bullitt would and he eventually followed bullitt in. the other owners (in frame) were in love with bullitt because he was "brave" and "empowered" their dog to get in. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v5JkGl-oWw0
there aren't any public dog parks where i just moved, so a kennel has built i private off leash dog park...membership is like 250 a year and it has a real swimming pool complete with filter/pumps etc. so ridiculously expensive
My little shithead climbed up on my nightstand and broke into a bottle of melatonin pills yesterday. Melatonin isn't toxic to dogs from my understanding but we went ahead and induced vomiting because we had no idea how many pills he swallowed. He's been acting normal since it happened (besides bright neon green/blue shit) but it really scared the hell out of me. It could have been a lot worse if he had pulled this move sooner because I kept a bottle of hydrocodone on the same nightstand for about 3 months following my knee surgery last year . Definitely learned my lesson.
Just looked at our jerky treats, Authority and Vitality, think 'I highly doubt they're made in China'. Wrong, one made in China, the other in Thailand. Fuuuuuuck I guess I need to pay more attention to that.
One thing my vet stressed more than anything, when I first got my dog was to make sure you only give him american made products.
Just found out this cute mug has a Foster home beginning on Monday and potential family already lined up that wants to adopt him. My dogs are going to be so heart broken. They will cry at the fence for many weeks looking for the 3rd member of their pack.
Loyal dog continues to attend mass at church where owner’s funeral was held By Dylan Stableford, Yahoo! News Senior Media Reporter Posts Email RSS By Dylan Stableford, Yahoo! News | The Sideshow – 47 mins ago Email 0 Share Tweet 0 Share0 Print Tommy, at Santa Maria Assunta church (Nikonarte Fotografia/Daily Mail) A loyal dog whose owner died late last year has apparently been showing up for mass every day for the last two months at the church where the funeral was held . Tommy, a 7-year-old German Shepherd, used to accompany his owner, Maria Margherita Lochi, to services at Santa Maria Assunta church in San Donaci, Italy, according to the Daily Mail, and was allowed to sit at her feet. After Lochi died, the dog "joined mourners at her funeral service" according to locals and "followed after Maria's coffin" as it was carried into the church. Tommy, a stray who was adopted by Lochi, has been showing up "when the bell rings out to mark the beginning of services" ever since. "He's there every time I celebrate Mass and is very well behaved," Father Donato Panna told the paper. "He doesn't make a sound." None of the other parishoners have complained, Panna said, and villagers give the dog food and water and allow him to sleep nearby. "I've not heard one bark from him in all the time he has been coming in," Panna added. "He waits patiently by the side of the altar and just sits there quietly. I didn't have the heart to throw him out—I've just recently lost my own dog so I leave him there until mass finishes and then I let him out." Examples of this type of over-the-top canine loyalty are incredibly common. A dog lays near the casket of a fallen Navy SEAL in 2011. (The Atlantic) In 2011, a fallen Navy SEAL's Labrador Retriever laid down next to his owner's casket at a funeral service in Rockford, Iowa, refusing to leave. The heart-wrenching photo of the scene, taken by the SEAL's cousin and posted to Facebook, soon went viral. And on Tuesday, a 60-year-old man's dog watched and waited for 30 minutes as the fire department rescued his owner after he fell through thin ice into the freezing waters of the Colorado River: Nearby hunters witnessed the accident and called 911. But while they waited for help, the man's dog refused to leave the scene. Like a worried relative in the waiting room, the dog paced back and forth, trying to reach the man, who repeatedly waved the dog off, fearing for its safety."This is simply who dogs are," Dr. Karen Overall, an Animal Behavior expert, told Yahoo! Shine. "We have had a close, cognitive, emotional and working relationship with dogs for tens of thousands of years, and we have both been changed by that history. Dogs are heroic to us because they live up to that relationship." Canine loyalty extends beyond humans. Last year, a male pit bull refused to leave the side of a female pit bull who had been dead on the side of a road in Phoenix. According to local news reports, the male pit bull stayed with her for more than 14 hours. I love German Shepards
My sister had a whippet for about 16 years that died last year and she has been trying to adopt a rescue for about 3 months. She lives in Norway and traveled all the way to Ireland to get her new rescue which took about 2 months for her to get vetted and approved. The dog had mange and was malnourished after she had been abandoned. This is her new whippet mix, IZZY (Isadora) O'FLAHERTIE, next to a statue of Oscar Wilde.
Possibly, he had such a sleek body, more like a boxer. There are so many variations in those breeds though.
LOL @ the Cat Thread. Mind Blown TMBers actually admit to owning cats, much less start a thread on them
I just tried to shame my dog for getting in the garbage... It ended well. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OHYCNWOWjAo&sns=em
I don't have any cats at my place right now but we had tons growing up. I'll probably get one once I move into a place I'm not renting and get a garden up and running. I love cats and pretty much all animals
Do y'all have any kind of pet insurance? I'm wondering if it is worth it, seems like the ones I have seen exclude so much shit that it isn't worth it. Thoughts from TMB?
I have pet insurance through Trupanion. It's about 33 bucks a month and I believe around a $500 deductible. It covers just about everything but hip displasia. Im not too worried about HD with Truman though because he isnt full bred. Some of the nice stuff it does cover, that Id never expect it to: -Travel re-embursement if he gets sick right before I leave to go somewhere and I have to cancel the trip - covers any damages he causes if he would escape for some reason and ruin other peoples property - If I ever get sick, and cant take care of him for a period, they cover boarding for up to I think 2 weeks
