Taking my little guy to get fixed tomorrow (well at noon today, Monday). Not sure why but I'm nervous. pic just because:
I would probably change her food, something grain free, I recommend Natural Balance: Duck and Potato. My dog had terrible farts and constant diarrhea until I got him on it and I tried a number of foods including other high quality foods like Blue Buffalo, nothing worked until Natural Balance and now he shits like a champ and never farts. Next, does she woof down her food? A lot of times dogs who do that will have really bad gas because they are essentially hyperventilating while they eat and sucking in a bunch of air into their stomachs. If she's doing that put a object, like a big ball in her food dish while she eats so she can't woof it all down and once and has to eat around the ball. They also have toys that you can put the food in and they have to work the toy to release the food. Putting pumpkin in dog food can also help digestion. Dog farts are the worst, good luck.
Trying to get Murphy to go pee quickly at night because it's fucking cold is damn near impossible now, he is completely infatuated with the snow. Buries his face in it, hops around in snow mounds, eats snow mouthfuls at a time. He's in a whole new world and fucking loves it.
Cane acted like it was the end of the world when he had his on. Took him a few hours to get used to it andd then he was bulldozing into shit.
Truman is the same way. Plus he takes forever to shit. I timed him the other night - 13 minutes in the poop squat position. Didnt fucking move. He just sits there forever, trying to get every last bit out.
a friend of mine got a pitbull puppy about a month ago... seriously one of the cutest things i've ever seen
Well today was the day every pet owner dreads, I had to put down my 13 year old Golden Retriever Sydney. About a month ago I took her to the vet because I noticed some lumps around her throat and she was just overall pretty lethargic in her demeanor. Within seconds the vet told me that this is not good news. Her lymph nodes were swollen around her throat, behind her shoulders, and behind her knees, meaning 99% chance it was lymphoma and the test confirmed it a couple days later. At her age, and with the cost of the treatment that may or may not work, that i can't afford to begin with, we put her on a steroid and decided to enjoy every last day with her until the time came. They say they'll let you know when it's time, and she did. Without a doubt the hardest thing I've ever had to do, but i'm 100% at peace with the decision and now she is resting in 100% peace as well. From the first day you own a pet they trust that every decision you make is in their best interest, even when its the one you dread the most. So toss one back in memory of my old girl & give your pet an extra hug today. RIP Syd!
Condolences, asudmr. You're right that it's one of the toughest things you'll ever have to do. Remember the good times.
Must be onions in my office My first dog had to be put down bc she got cancer so I understand what you are going through. Remember that you gave her a good life and that she was loved. RIP Sydney
I need some help gents... This little fat hoe is Lola She's very dominate of the other two dogs in the house, but beyond submissive towards me. It's so bad that when I get home I have to greet her outside because when she's excited to see me and I pet her she pisses herself. Anyone been through this and know how to fix the behavior?
That's a tough one. Try to reward her for being calm when you walk in the door. Try turning your back to her, and ignoring her until she calms down then give her attention. Its not a quick fix, but hopefully she gets it after a while.
Back to the leg lifting discussion - Truman has a new quirk. He starts out lifting his right leg, then in mid piss, with full stream, he gives me a "watch this" look, the switches to lift his left leg. In the process, his stream of piss shifts from the right to the left, completely dousing both front legs. He is such a smart dog, but sometimes I really fucking wonder wtf he is thinking.
So how long should I keep this cone on my dog? A quick google says 7 days (its been 4) Im just ready to get it off of him
I think we kept it on for like 10 days but that was probably overboard. I just followed the instructions the vet who handled the procedure gave us to a T.
I'm a little late to this party, but this was my first Dobermann, Jaeger. I had him for just over nine years, ending in 2011. Spectacular animal, both physically and mentally.
This is my fawn Dobermann, Schaefer. We think she's almost four years old, and apparantley, she took a decent kicking for the first couple. Lovely dog that is finally truly enjoying her time.
Woke up this morning to my dog yelping and jumping out of bed. I didn't know what was going on so I tried to get her to get back up in bed. When she tried to jump up she yelped in pain and ran off. I kinda freaked out and took her to the 24 hour emergency vet in Olathe close to my place. Vet thinks she either has a pinched nerve or might have slipped a disk so I have to keep a close watch on her for the next week or so. Poor girl can't even get up on the couch with me and she is a 50 lb german shepherd mix. I also live on the second floor and she can barely get up the stairs. Sucks knowing she is in pain and I can't do anything about it.
So, Cooper has figured out how to open his crate. He only does it when we leave the house. I had to put a bunch of zip ties on one door to keep it closed and just got 3 screw carabiners to keep the side door shut when he is in the crate. He still unlocks the crate latches, but the carabiners have held him in so far. When he got out a few days ago he chewed up my wifes Maui Jims, a light bulb, and a few pillows.
Anyone in or around Atlanta looking for an American Bulldog or want to foster one???? This is my neighbor's dog. Sweet guy, loves my American Bulldogs. Lives outside, gets no attention...only love is when I go outside twice a day to give him treats and pet him. He whines at our fence when my dogs have to come in. Heart breaking. Dude needs a good home.....
Hudson has officially mastered the "I'm sorry. Please don't be mad" face... and it works every single time
Cute. Ive never seen the "Im Sorry" face on my dog, because I dont think he has been sorry for anything. Usually I get the, "Yeah, I knocked over the trash can... so what" look.
Hudson almost always gets the look of guilt when he does something bad. He basically tells on himself most of the time.
