This is reminding me of when Grand Island, NE was virtually destroyed one night in the early 80’s. It was hit by several tornados one right after the other iirc.
No, but that block of text is editable. You can add whatever you feel is necessary, so long as you do it quickly and succinctly
This train of supercells runs from the Red River to just south of Tulsa. There’s also a line of disturbance from central TX that intercepts it in OK. TWC says this is going to go for several more hours.
Growing up in central Neb we got all sorts of stories about that. IIRC, the craziest thing was 11 of the 13 twisters that hit GI were spinning backwards.
I moved to Lincoln in ‘85 and my coworkers were telling me that the tornadoes actually moved NE to SW. whatever the reality, it was horrific for the folks living there.
The time stamp on this was 2 hours ago. We won’t know the extent of damages until well after daylight of course.
Sad. Sulphur has spent a lot of time and money revitalizing their downtown. Tons of little shops and a couple of decent drinking establishments.
Sounds like preliminary NWS estimates are EF3s on those massive tornadoes near Omaha The ELKHORN/BENNINGTON/BLAIR, NE tornado was just shy of EF4 so far.
