Terrion Arnold Carlton Davis Emmanuel Mosely Amik Robertson Brian Branch Ennis Rakestraw Going to have a lot of guys fighting for 3 spots.
We really going to wait until rd 5 or we possibly going to use a future pick to move back in at some point?
Getting back into the 3rd would be probably too costly. I could see maybe trying to get into rd 4 though
I love Holmes just peacing dozens of guys as not worth the Lions considering worth a future pick to trade for. He’ll see you at the club.
I assume Branch is the of a nickel or joker back and Davis/Moseley will be on the outside to start the year Then you have a pretty good dime package with the rooks and Amik This is a real do or die season for Aaron Glenn. Holmes has basically said here I gave you help now you have to do something with it
My best guess on the current depth chart QB (2): Goff, Hooker RB (4): Gibbs or Montgomery, Reynolds, Knight WR (5): St. Brown, Williams, Raymond, Peoples-Jones, Green TE (4): LaPorta, Wright, Mitchell, Zylstra OT (3): Sewell, Decker, Skipper OG (4): Glasgow, Zeitler, Sorsdal, Awosika OC (1): Ragnow Edge (5): Hutchinson, Cominsky, Paschal, Davenport, Houston Interior (4): McNeill, Reader, Onwuzrike, Martin LB (5): Anzalone, Campbell, Barnes, Reeves-Maybin, Rodriguez DB (7): Davis, Robertson, Arnold, Rakestraw, Moseley, Vildor, Dorsey Nickel (1): Branch S (2): Joseph, Melifonwu ST (3): Badgley, Daly, Fox That’s 49/53 spots but realistically there will be churn at some of these positions. Guys that immediately come to mind as being in jeopardy of losing their jobs at some point are guys like Knight, Green, Mitchell, Zylstra, Dorsey, Badgley. We definitely need depth at OL, Edge, Safety. We need an upgrade at K. In saying that, I would expect we use our picks today addressing the numbers at OL and safety and then possibly exploring a kicker.
I think OL depth is dependent on what they think of the young talent they have. Awosika was okay last year outside of Thanksgiving when he was awful. They seemed to be high on Sorsdal until he played, but he was a rookie OL coming from a really small school so it might take him time. If I'm remembering correctly, they also paid Connor Galvin a good chunk as a UDFA last year out of Baylor as a OT, and he spent all year on the practice squad. Would be curious to know what they really think of all those guys. We do have two 4s in next year's draft, so I could see us maybe using one of them today to try to get into the 4th or early 5 for the right guy. Holmes just doesn't really seem to be acting like he's looking to make a ton of picks this year, though.
I'm giving these guys the benefit of the doubt because theyve earned it, but that trade and pick was....interesting
I am not a big fan of trading future picks but it might be a tell that we anticipate getting comp picks next season.
Got in an Uber to see the 161 pick live and they naturally traded up and picked as I was getting out of the car. Now I wait for hours hahaha
I also think Vaki might be our new KR, which with the new rules, would make the trade make more sense.
