I find it super interesting that we all assumed (at least I did) that NIL would stack rosters for the brands in football and basketball but in actuality it seems to be leveling the playing field significantly for schools like cat. Our donors went nuclear this year and we’re in great shape for some big name portal targets. It’s a lot of fun

When we were in the hiring process half our board wanted a sitting P6 coach. One of our beat writers went back and looked at the number of sitting P6 coaches to jump to another P6 school and it's not that many in basketball. And after the top 10-15 jobs you probably don't want to poach a sitting P6 coach. It gets real dicey on their success and then you'd have to give them a raise most likely and then it doesn't make sense.
I'm sure Billy Donovan will leave the pro game to deal with 18 year olds, NIL and the transfer portal.

I think it is funny that the money in college basketball makes it where it is tougher than ever to get a happy coach out of an established program, but even players who like where they are at are going in the portal. Course, one probably has to do with the other.
