Isn't UConn a matchup nightmare for Purdue? Have the bigs to match with Edey while being too athletic on the outside for their guards Obviously anything can happen, but that'll be a tough one for Purdue
I don’t mean to be that guy, but we are talking Gordan Hayward, Matt Howard, Jon Schyer, and the Plumlee brothers.
I am so fucking high right now that I do not remember any of these players in the two deep for the football team
he seems like such a good guy too, maybe d3 hacked his account but listening to him on podcasts I think he is just being matter of fact and not really taking a shot.
She’s talented but makes a lot of mental mistakes. She was likely to be the 5th G next year. Can’t blame her for hunting PT. She’ll be a starter for a tournament team imo. She’d be a role player for a F4 tour team.
Is this female basketball team ready for a run? It seems like they are at top team that had a down year because of shitty luck
They were a s16 team and their best player had her worst game of the year (though I guess you have to give credit to OSU for that but she did miss a lot of easy shots). They bring back an All American Guard who was hurt all year and add the best incoming freshman center in the country which is their weakest point. They also get back a few injured players who were five stars and have 2-3 transfer spots available. They should be very good
Yeah. If Koval (5* freshman center) is as advertised and Watson gets back from her knee injury they’re going to be extremely good,.
Rules are rules but I think the nose ring thing really fucked with Hidalgo, she seemed uncomfortable after that until the end of the game.
It was very gamesmanshippy and I imagine OSU mentioned it even though their coach played dumb. It is against the rules but the timing was very suspect
When PKav and Entenmann went down on back to back plays, that was a bit scary. Glad the team was able to bounce back once Duke tied it. Same response as the championship game last year
Transfer portal makes it even sillier than usual to do these things, but ESPN has ND WBB #3 in next year's "Way Too Early" list
Purdue getting nothing from its all white guards all tournament was hilarious, unbelievable they made the title game with the shit supporting cast around Edey
II offense Spoiler Notre Dame football held spring practice No. 9 on Tuesday morning. The media viewed OTAs and the first five periods. Let's get this out of the way: Notre Dame wide receiver Jayden Harrison, arguably the media darling of spring ball, spent the entire practice in the pit donning street clothes. It's unclear how severe the injury is, but he seemed to be moving around okay and peddled with both feet while using the stationary bike. Tight ends Mitchell Evans and Kevin Bauman continue to work in the pit. I did not see them sprinting with a few of the other injured players. The first, second and third teams each went through a quick walkthrough on air during practice, marching down the field on a handful of plays. Since the three different units ran plays simultaneously, I focused on writing down each team's quarterback and offensive line. First-Team QB: Steve Angeli LT: Charles Jagusah LG: Pat Coogan C: Ashton Craig RG: Billy Schrauth RT: Tosh Baker Second-Team QB: Kenny Minchey LT: Sullivan Absher LG: Rocco Spindler C: Sam Pendleton RG: Chris Terek RT: Aamil Wagner Third-Team QB: CJ Carr LT: Styles Prescod LG: Peter Jones C: Joe Otting RG: Ty Chan RT: Anthonie Knapp I wasn't able to note every skill player, but here are some of the players rotating in each unit: First-team: TE Cooper Flanagan, TE Davis Sherwood, WR Kris Mitchell, WR Micah Gilbert, WR Jaden Greathouse, RB JD Price Second-team: WR KK Smith, WR Deion Colzie, RB Jeremiyah Love Quarterback Riley Leonard didn't participate in the walkthrough, but he did trail CJ Carr down the field, standing a few feet behind the early enrollee and seemingly going through mental reps. He continues to participate partially in practice, wearing an ankle brace on his right foot. His walk is normal. Leonard still goes through OTAs, warms up, throws the ball with the other QBs, and hands the ball off during drills. Outside of the walkthrough, I only noticed Leonard sitting out in a drill where the quarterbacks faked a handoff before rolling out to their left and making a throw on the move. With an ankle injury, my guess is they want him to be careful with side-to-side movements. When all four QBs threw at once, Angeli's arm continues to look strong. He tossed a few 30-yard seam routes to tight ends Cooper Flanagan and Eli Raridon that traveled on a line and hit the intended target in stride. I also watched the offensive linemen during individual periods. Interestingly, Spindler is now taking reps at left guard, competing with Coogan instead of Schrauth. Early enrollee offensive lineman Anthonie Knapp also repped at tackle in individual drills. At one point, offensive line coach Joe Rudolph made him take another rep because he didn't have his head inside of the man he was blocking.
D3 Spoiler Notre Dame held another spring practice this morning and the media was allowed to see the first 4 1/2 periods. Per usual, there wasn’t really much to observe in the way of evaluation, but I’ll do my best to get you some information from what we did see. I focused mostly on the offense today because the defense focused on drill work. OFFENSE *** The offense did go through a tempo period where they ran plays on air. It was a first team, second team and then a third team. Riley Leonard didn’t participate in any of these periods, although he did get some throwing work in with the receivers when they did routes on air. *** The first team quarterback was Steve Angeli and the running back was Jadarian Price. The receivers were Kris Mitchell (Z), Jaden Greathouse (Slot) and Micah Gilbert (X). The tight end was Cooper Flanagan. The offensive line was left to right: Charles Jagusah, Pat Coogan, Ashton Craig, Billy Schrauth, Tosh Baker. *** The second team quarterback was Kenny Minchey and the running back was Jeremiyah Love. The receivers were Cam Williams (Z), KK Smith (Slot) and Deion Colzie (X). The tight end was Eli Raridon. The offensive line was left to right: Sullivan Absher, Rocco Spindler, Sam Pendleton, Christopher Terek, Aamil Wagner. *** The third team quarterback was CJ Carr and the running back was Aneyas Williams. The receivers and tight ends were walk ons. The offensive line was left to right: Styles Prescod, Peter Jones, Joe Otting, Ty Chan, Anthony Knapp. *** All the quarterbacks were relatively sharp during the tempo period. Angeli threw a really nice corner throw to Flanagan, and Carr threw a gorgeous ball over the middle. Angeli also threw a couple of nice corner balls during the routes on air period. Leonard was also sharp during the RVA period, and the ball was jumping out well for him. He was getting more zip today than we saw early in spring camp, and it’s the second practice session in a row where that was true. It would seem that post-surgery he’s able to drive better off his back foot. Carr is starting to look quite confident going through drills and throwing the ball. You could tell early he was still learning a lot, and of course he is still learning, but he’s carrying himself with more confidence. He’s more loose when he goes through work, and when he’s throwing during RVA and the tempo period he’s quick and decisive with his throws. Minchey was probably the least sharp of the QBs today, but he also had a good session during RVA. His ball placement wasn’t quite as sharp as the others, but he was solid. *** The offense and defense did a one-on-one space drill where the receiver would catch a pass, get upfield and the defender would have to meet him in space. They didn’t tackle, but you could tell when a defender was in position to tackle a guy. I continue to be impressed with how good the offensive players are in space. The defense, as a whole, needs to take better angles, but part of the problem is the speed with which most of the offensive players get to spots, and how quickly they are able to make cuts. *** I continue to be impressed with sophomore receiver Jaden Greathouse. He’s so much more confident in what he’s doing this spring, and he’s moving around like a veteran. He’s first in every drill, he plays fast, he’s confident getting into and out of breaks and he catches the ball extremely well. Greathouse showed the ability to make defenders miss in space with sharp, sudden moves, and his ball skills continue to shine, even in drills. *** Today was the first time since the opening practice that we got to see Kris Mitchell really turn it loose, and I was reminded of how fast he is. Not only does he show really good vertical speed, but today Mitchell impressed me with how sudden he is as a route runner and with the ball in space. Freshman Micah Gilbert has really emerged as a potential difference maker for the Irish. He worked with the first team today, and he’s showing really good confidence and certainty as a route runner. Gilbert was smooth during drills today and as a route runner, and he caught everything near him. *** Jayden Harrison didn’t practice today and Jayden Thomas continues to be limited. *** The offensive line spent most of the practice working on double teams and driving on sleds, which was good to see. A lot of emphasis on working their feet through contact, which is very important for this line and is an area where it needs a lot of improvement compared to 2023. *** One observation that I was intrigued by was that Rocco Spindler spent the entire practice working at left guard, which is the same side as Pat Coogan. This was true during the team period discussed above, but it was also true during drills. They separated the left and right guards during sled drills, and Coogan and Spindler were together, and Billy Schrauth was opposite them. If you’ll allow me to jump to a conclusion for a second, this could mean that Schrauth has taken the jump that was hoped for and has shown he has a spot locked down, and now Spindler and Coogan will battle for the other guard spot.
II Defense Spoiler Notre Dame, Ind — The media was afforded a five-period viewing session of today's practice, Notre Dame's ninth of its 15-practice spring. Sidelined and working in The Pit—is is their lot in life this spring—Armel Mukam (labrum surgery), Aiden Gobaira (August ACL surgery), and Loghan Thomas (labrum surgery). They were joined by one new name offensively as will be detailed in Drew Mentock's practice report—slot receiver/kickoff return specialist Jayden Harrison. I spent most of my time at the south end of the LaBar Practice Complex watching Al Washington's defensive line tutelage. The group was again without defensive tackles Rylie Mills and Howard Cross (nose) due to graduate class commitments. Washington's first drilled paired an end and an interior linemen with the tandems as follows: Jordan Botelho and Jason Onye RJ Oben and Kurt Hinish Brenan Vernon and Devan Houston Freshman preferred walk-on Eric Lindstrom and Sean Sevillano Jr Washington asked Hinish following his second rep: "Why was that rep better than your first?" to which the entire defensive interior responded "Lower!" Washington added "Too wide, Donnie!" on an ensuing rep. "You fight pressure with pressure." Washington stopped the drill to ensure that left hand placement in the ground was matched by left foot weight as the player's exploded to their right sides on the snap. He later pulled Lindstrom aside to work on his pad level and hand placement against the blocker's outside shoulder. Washington corrected redshirt-freshman Devan Houstan on a rep, finishing his commentary with "and therein lies the issue" when Houstan explained himself. Later, Washington asked of Houstan after a rep: "What are you seeing?" and when Houstan answers, Washington responded, "It doesn't look like it." Sean Sevillano seemingly made the same technical error to which Washington offered, "Come do it again, Sean. If you have a deficiency in your eyes, it will expose you." (*Eyes as in what the player sees pre-snap and immediately following.) Brenan Vernon took an opportunity to ask Washington a question post drill to which Washington answered, 'YES. Exactly.' The redshirt-freshman Vernon towers above some of his fellow interior players. He's at least the 6'5" measured. Our final period of practice showed the following front six (no Rover/Nickel) alignments in a 4-2 base set. Defensive coordinator Al Golden presided over this one: Oben, Hinish, Onye, Botelho, backed by Drayk Bowen and Jack Kiser, with Bowen the Mike. Bowen and Kiser were replaced by Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa (Mike) and Jaylen Sneed. At one point, Bowen returned to replace Sneed at Will with Viliamu-Asa remaining at Mike. Notably absent from this high-intensity, full-contact drill was Jaiden Ausberry, who was working closer to the safeties, nickels (and thus I assume as a Rover) alongside Adon Shuler. (This was 60 yards away, but I located Shuler and a colleague from ISD found Ausberry.) Shuler's name is likewise notable here because Luke Talich and Ben Minich were involved in the box drill as the two safeties. I'll surmise Shuler and Ausberry were likely involved in the beginning of coverage drills as the media stepped out of practice thereafter. AROUND THE GRIDIRON I was able to watch one linebacker segment from afar, but it's worth noting Jaylen Sneed was lauded for a rep by Kiser, et al. It appeared Sneed had worked to improve on the technique (shedding a block) as the linebackers yelled "There it is!" We'll speak with Sneed, Kiser, and Bowen post-practice along with quarterbacks Steve Angeli and Kenny Minchey and both Max Bullough and Gino Guidugli. Bowen was flanked by Kiser and Sneed in the block destruction drills. Notably quick to the ball in an opening tag-off drill: Adon Shuler, Jordan Clark, Xavier Watts, and Christian Gray. Shuler looks the part of a future college starter. I'd be surprised if he doesn't have a major role on Marty Biagi's special teams as a redshirt-freshman. It seems a visiting power forward recruit wearing No. 30 and full pads wandered into Washington's defensive line drills. Nope, false alarm. That's freshman strong side end Bryce Young. Carry on. We did not locate linebacker Josh Burnham, defensive tackle Tyson Ford, or (non-roster) nose tackle Gabriel Rubio at today's practice, though we were inside the walls for less than one-third of the segments.
Is there a Chicago thread on this Board? The Chicago guys in here might know as well. Helping plan a bachelor party for a friend in Chicago in May and he wants to (gasp!) do a non-drinking activity on Saturday afternoon (kayak, hike, etc.) if anyone has any suggestions.
I did it like 6 years ago but it was fun. You set off right near the end of the river towards be lake.
Tanook Hines CB'd to ND by Loy and Mike Roach (TX 247 guy)...both with a 7 which usually means a silent i love his film and size and he's 10.5 fast
Two players that are pretty good, ND was kicking the tires on whether to take them, but they couldn't get in so we're going to have to politely ask them to move on.
