Having major league players isn’t a bad thing but when the limited amount of resources are used on what we have an abundance of is really puzzling.
I don’t hate the add because of versatility, but I don’t understand why we’re paying him so much. Or am I just completely out of touch with MLB salaries because I am a Reds fan.
This is pretty much in line with what he was expected to get. He's a pretty solid player. Just confused because we have to many infielders as is. Hoping it's because we are moving people for a top flight starter.
that’s what I keep struggling with as well. Since we have no big league contracts and all arbitration players the sticker shock is crazy. We have a reliever making 8 million now which is normal but for the Reds it’s insane.
Fangraphs zips article is out tonight https://blogs.fangraphs.com/2024-zips-projections-cincinnati-reds/
Great I think the Emilio Pagán signing was the worst bullpen addition any team has made in free agency so far this winter, but I was surprised that ZiPS likes Pagán even less. I see this as a good example of a team thinking that the season before is the same thing as a projection, and ignoring the red flags. Pagán was basically successful because he suddenly went from being a terrible home run pitcher to a great one
How in the hell did I miss this? My social media is usually flooded with posts from guys still affiliated with Moeller sharing news about former athletes. I guess it's because I had to spend two straight days actually in the office while also trying to keep tabs on one of the biggest CFB coaching carousel moments in years. I can see how this was off my radar. Oh well. Go Reds. Go Big Moe. Now back to overdue projects and Bamawatch.
Those are nice. One small possibly unpopular opinion, I really hate the baseball head logo on their jersey, looks unserious.
Fun fact - Elly the second rookie ever with 10 home runs or more, 35 steals or more, and an average of .235 or lower. Who was the other? Barry Bonds Bonds in 113 games .223 16 HR 36 SB Elly in 98 games .235 13 HR 35 SB
Open question: Do we keep our professional team threads the way they are or do we just create one centralized city of Cincinnati thread that combines all of our teams and other random shit going on around town? I feel like we’d get more engagement with the latter
Jesus what a train wreck of spring training. Took the air out of the balloon before the season even started.
Anyone going to Opening Day or any of the festivities? I might come down for a beer or something Side note, how did just now learn that from 2018-2020 we had a rookie affiliate called the Greenville Reds in Tennessee and this was their logo?
I work right across the river so I’ll walk over to the banks for opening day around lunch. Last year I did the same thing with the intention of having a couple drinks then going back to work. Ended up taking an Uber home at midnight.
Good for him. I’m now in the same boat as you. Shout out to the west coasters causing me to have a 4pm meeting on the eve of a 3 day weekend
