i'm not saying you're wrong. I hope you are right. I have just seen so much mediocrity out of the Falcons that I can't help but think the improved defense last year was an anomaly. Seems like we had a pretty damn decent offense for much of the 2010s but never had the defense to back it up. Then the one year we decide to punt on offense with Ridder, the defense puts out a pretty decent season. I think Cousins could come in and get us to 10 wins, but the idea that he makes us a super bowl contender is laughable. we would get rolled by any of the elite teams in the NFC in a playoff game.
I wouldn't really get what the Falcons are trying to accomplish by signing Cousins. I admittedly have near zero faith in the ownership and front office. Maybe it'll be different this time. lol
Is Fields out at this point? I’d rather have him on a cheap show me year for a 2nd/3rd than Cousins at half the cap.
This is me. You take a shot and could possibly have a starter of the future. If not you're out a 2nd round pick. Seems worth it to me.
Fields can’t distribute well enough. I don’t think he’s a fit for the offense we want to run. If we want a young guy, we should just trade up for McCarthy or maye. Whoever is the 4th qb so we don’t have to give up too much
Reading the Graziano and Fowler article on ESPN+, it looks like Cousins is more than likely going to stay in Minnesota and the 2nd rounder that the Bears want seems to be less likely as of right now. How would you guys feel about Mayfield if he doesn't sign with Tampa? Robinson was his QB coach for his short stint in LA so it might be easier for him to fit immediately into the offense.
Is the OL good enough to keep cousins upright and effective? Post-injury he's going to be an absolute statue back there. I am trying to figure out ways we sign him where I am not underwhelmed. Can't get myself there ATM
I think I was way more concerned about us selling the farm to move up to pick #1-3 or doing something similarly dumb for Fields so if you compare just signing Cousins to some absurd deal I probably accept that decision.
No one has ever been over the moon to sign Kirk Cousins. This just appears to be the least shitty route of the options we had on the table. JMO
Not a huge deal but wouldn’t cousins have to buyout all the Kyle Pitts jerseys if he wanted number 8 and also get Pitts to agree
Lot of money, but now we have a qb and we can go bpa in the draft. do think we need to get a 2nd/3rd round qb and try to develop. Prefer turner at 8
I like it. Lowest risk option and we have the roster to win now in our shitty division. Keep the #8 pick too and are able to get best available too.
Hopefully Verse'n or Turner'n at 8 Maybe not the worst idea to get another weapon at WR. Defense-heavy draft? How's the OL looking?
I think our oline is as solid as it gets. Pass rush or pass catcher, but preferably edge. We already have a 1 wr
