That seemed like a good deal to me, we're paying $2k/mo for 1 kid here in Atlanta

Daycare costs are outrageous. We are sending our kids to the “fancy” daycare but it’s also in Manhattan KS. I’m just happy we got that military subsidy when we put kid3 in daycare or we were looking at nearly $60k a year. Fortunately kid1 starts kindergarten in the fall.

It is incredible what inflation has done. I’m 12 years removed and we were at like $800 a month back in the day.

We live in the city so there's a premium but ours wasn't the most expensive. It was $2,300 for Primrose and $2,375 for Suzuki

Also with daycare, if you find you dislike your daycare or want to switch for whatever reason good fucking luck. Maybe you get on a waiting list and can switch in 1-2 years.

Very grateful to live in a town with cheaper daycare. Even in the nicest parts of Birmingham it's not going to be much more than $1200 a month.

We’re at $1.5k/mo which I would say is middle of the road from a cost perspective in our city.

We’re planning for #2 and was not thrilled to learn the Dependent Care FSA is not per child.

That would be so sick. There’s a federal tax deduction (I think) for daycare but doesn’t really make a dent.

I sendy kid to apparently the cheapest day care in Citu of Atlanta for 1150.

I supplement that with $700 in therapy a month....Probably due to it being cheap

Costs vary widely. When we were looking with our first about 10 years ago the range was $14k (church daycare) - $30k (annually). I recall the $30k supplied diapers and formula. None others had that and most were in the $17k-$23k range. That is for an infant with 4/1 kid to adult ratio. The cost was cheaper once they were >16 or 18 months and the state allowed a higher ratio of kids/adult.

Don’t fall for those toys that kids can build themselves with little screwdrivers and screws. I’m sure it helps with some skill but those things end up disconnected and pieces are fucking everywhere and you kid keeps asking where one of the dinosaurs legs are.

Babies 2 and 3 have arrived. Everyone is doing great. Mom is the best.

Baby 1 decided she wanted to wake up at 0500 this morning; it’s been a long day.

I’m ready for some pizza, beer, and a shot.

Does anyone's kids watch vlad and niki on hbo? Stumbled upon it and both of my kids are fixated on it. Even my youngest that won't watch any tv. Wild stuff

Eta - they do not appear to speak and it's one of the worst things I've watched

Does anybody use a GPS tracker for their kids? specifically my oldest kid is about to start walking home from school. I would like something a little quicker to track than an Airtag but don't want to give him a Gizmo or some other smart watch. Just want something to clip inside his backpack and he won't even notice it.

Any of the other Florida dads see the reduced Florida prepaid rates? I set up a 529 plan when my son was born but seems pretty tempting to get at least a year of prepaid.

I think “Finding Dory” sent our 2-year old into a tantrum this morning after he watched it. Movie is stressful as fuck, constantly in a frantic state, endless bumps in the road, and Albert Brooks’ voice is audible cortisol. I think it just overstimulated him. We’re rotating back to the musicals.

My oldest is an 8th grader and in the span of about 90 seconds tonight I sent out spring baseball fees and 5 days of a Christian overnight camp (lol), to the tune of $1,400. And almost instantly a coach sends out feelers for a spring break baseball tourney in Northern California. Kids are a racket, man.

Really depends on the babys. It was a lot easier for us going from 1 to 2 than it was going from 0 to 1, but our first was hard baby and our 2nd was unbelievably easy.

My experience was that 1 was tough, but manageable after getting the routines down. Going to 2 was much harder, but my 2nd is and was a knucklehead. It got a little easier when the youngest hit 2, but we still struggle with finding time for the adults to have a little space.

As a baby, going to 2 was easier than having the first. Once #2 grew up enough to be mobile, talk, fight with siblings, talk back, etc., it goes to hell... at least for us it did.

Going for 0-1 is obviously the biggest shakeup in anyone's life. Going from 1-2 is a change but only catastrophic if you're used to your wife doing everything. If you have the dynamic with your one kid where the mom does everything with the baby and you just help out then it's going to be quite a shock when you are left alone with the toddler all day while mom's nursing and napping with the baby.
