The best thing about the YTTV quad box is that I can be aware of this team this year without actually putting much focus on them at all.
I assume everyone saw ND had 10 on defense at the goal line on the very last play of the game. That just can’t happen
This may be optimistic, but the whole feeling I got from what we did in the second half is that everybody, Rees included, is learning and adjusting right now. I would imagine if that situation arises again, we’ll go under center and do exactly that.
If Milroe hadn't thrown that INT in the red zone we'd have 27 or 31 points. Which would have felt so much better. If he can somehow eliminate that , we could be a playoff team. I doubt he can though. But again, I said I wanted him to keep it to one INT, he did, so take your wins where you can.
His touchdown throw to Hale was fucking awesome. And I love Ty coming in ready to run in the 2 pt conversion.
The interception in double coverage when Burton was standing at the 5 wide open on the same side and the sack Milroe took early for no reason where he rolled out and just stood there, both stick out to me from yesterday. Those are again high school level mistakes. Our ceiling is limited as long as he continues to make those mistakes.
Jam Miller’s Reuben Foster esque hit on kick off was fucking awesome. The team went absolutely nuts. Take that penalty all day.
also, McLaughlin is on his ass every play. The guy sucks and should never take a snap for a program like Alabama. I can't believe we don't have someone better. It's inexcusable.
defense was having fun yesterday. First time in a long time you saw them playing with a ton of confidence flying around making plays. They didn't seem to be in their head. Even when we gave up a big play they didn't get down.
I was thinking this morning....we could have a situation like Hurts/Tua all over again next season. If Milroe finds a way to sneak into the playoff there will be a Milroe/Sayin competition. Do we trust Saban to give Sayin the job early?
And the snap was bad/he fumbled it and didn't let it effect him one bit. Just put his head down and blasted towards the goal line. Loved it.
If we could get Jalen to put his frickin head down once his reads aren't there and just take the 3-5 yards instead of drifting to the sideline then it'd be a massive plus. Watch video of Hendon Hooker last year on loop. Dude made a living of just taking a small profit on 1st and 10 or 2nd and 7 getting 3-5 yards running.
It took him a little longer than expected (at shoutout to him for not transferring) but Terrion developing into that dude is nice. It’s also nice having another guy who’s that dude at the other corner spot.
He was awesome yesterday. And it seemed like Downs starting playing with his instincts a little more, hopefully getting more comfortable.
Dunno if the full game is on YouTube yet but CBS has one of their extended replays on there - it's like 35-40 mins long and shows most of the game.
One of the positive things that has developed over the last 2-3 weeks is that our young dudes - especially on defense - can play ball and do not play timid or scared.
the 3 man rush drop 8 just doesn't work. I've watched a lot of football and it just doesn't work. QBs are too good and play designers are too good if you give them time. Sure there will be plays made if you play man and bring pressure but I've never seen the rush 3 drop 8 work in 3rd & 4th and medium/long. I was so pumped when we brought safety pressure to end the game yesterday. The best defense is rushing the QB and not giving him time. I understand you can't do it all the time and become predictable with hot reads/screens/etc., but game on the line I want pressure.
For me it was the immense drop off between Dickerson and Dalcourt. Like a pro-bowler at the position down to a guy who should play G5 football and still be a liability at times. Seth had some great games in 2021 and looked competent even when overmatched because of how bad Dalcourt is. The issue is that closer to what Landon was should be the norm/floor for an OL at Alabama. Seth’s ceiling is Dickerson’s floor and Dalcourt is below that. Couple that with our QB situation and frankly it’s a big reason for the disaster OL start and then you throw in an overweight frosh LT and you’re doomsday Gump posting on a Monday at 545 AM.
We’re 4 games in, does anyone miss BoB or Pete? Those blitzes to end the game yesterday did my heart some good.
I mean… I don’t think him playing well disputes any reasons people think he should stop playing. I don’t think blowing out the Broncos is a cure for CTE. With that said I’m happy he’s dominating
Absolutely not on either. Rees isn't perfect but it beats the slop that BoB put out there, and we almost never seem sped up or confused pre-snap. And defense isn't even worth discussing.
I'm still not sold on Rees but at least it seems like we're just running the plays that were called and everyone is on the same page. Our execution is worse, though that's only partly on him
Alabama Football Showcases Strong Defense but Struggles on Offense in First Half but Plays Decent in Second Half - My Column by Stephen M. Smith
Dont understand why this is a foul on the defender. Branch isnt the one who dipped his head - Bijan was. Shit gets called all the time in both college and pros and it makes no sense. Only the defensive player seems to ever be penalized for it Jam’s hit yesterday was similar in that the ball carrier also dipped his head, but in that case they both actually lowered their head and used the helmet to deliver contact.
