The third episode was nearly entirely about someone's family member that was a covid moron, which I had zero interest in... since it's supposed to be a murder mystery

Avoiding CFB talk for much of the spring. But his willingness to die on the hill of Jamey Chadwell @ Liberty Univ has been a major turnoff for me.

Not sure if it's been mentioned yet, but If Books Could Kill is so good. Two hosts are Peter from 5-4 and another guy. They pick apart books that were dumb af but became part of the zeitgeist. They just did an ep on Hillbilly Elegy. It was great

I’m still a weekly listener to This American Life, but I can’t understand for the life of me why Ira Glass and the other producers are borderline obsessed with Tig Notaro to the point of including her content at least once a month. She’s not remotely funny, and the over exaggerated laugh tracks after she makes some super lame joke make me irrationally angry.

I just started Project Unabom, and I think it's pretty good.

Also, if you are into first person paranormal stories, I highly recommend Otherworld.

I keep thinking back to this post whenever Godfrey does something completely unnecessary are the bird app. Sometimes I truly don't think he understands his audience/the internet.

My relationship w that podcast has been a wild ride for me. I started listening to it solely because of Godfrey, hoping it would recreate some of PAPN. I couldnt stand Richard at first. Came off as a try hard to prove how knowledgable he was about schematics and shit. Alex kind of did nothing for me. Then over time I actually liked Richard and Alex. I think it was just a matter of them settling in and being comfortable. And now Godfrey is the insufferable one.

    Who woulda thunk it!

Man, we have arrived at the same point. He's become such an asshat over the last year and loves to shout down at his audience. I'm not too surprised that someone from an FBI/LEO family will go out of their way to defend cops. But this just seemed overly sensitive and unnecessary.

Didnt know that about his family, but makes sense. I can appreciate the reflexive impulse to defend, but you have to have more self awareness. Especially for a guy who constantly rails on coaches who lack that trait.

He drops in with something about his dad being FBI fairly regularly.

Is there any (national) college football podcast that doesn't have at least one mostly insufferable host/regular guest? I largely enjoy what SZD does even if Godfrey is becoming a real asshat.

    Probably not.

Ive been phasing out SZD in favor of Cover 3, who definitely has asshats (Danny Kannel), but none of it really comes out in the podcast.

It feels gross somewhat defending him - but listening to the podcast it's clear his twitter persona is just a schtick. He's way more toned down on the podcast.

It's one of those things where individually none of the hosts are all that great, but together it works somehow.

His dad was an FBI agent in Atlanta and Mississippi from my understanding. Given the fact that he is so anti establishment. I would think he would know the baggage that comes with those institutions.

I listened to it for several years and finally came to the conclusion I couldn't stand them. It's a good college football podcast for people that don't actually like college football.

And PSU alum/ND fans are bad people.

His pizza IG page is pretty good tho lol. He does strike me as the kind of guy who would critique everything.

Basically, the Solid Verbal secured the bag and never looked back. I can see how folks wouldn't necessarily like them now. Maybe I'm a bit too nostalgic about them.

Kind of depressing how Radio Rental has changed it's formula to be almost exclusively paranormal bullshit. It was, at one point, my favorite podcast when it covered mostly real life things with the occasional supernatural bullshit.

Still good production quality, so I'll listen begrudgingly.

I started listening to a pod called ‘The Necessary Conversation’, it’s hosted by Chad Kultgen who was a ”fratire” author in the early 00’s and co-wrote the script for ‘The Incredible Burt Wonderstone’ (which is underrated af imo).

Chad and his sister, who are our age, talk to their boomer MAGA Texas parents and it’s about what you’d expect, a shit show, but I haven’t laughed this hard at podcast in a minute.

Got a recent recommendations for the Straight White American Jesus podcast and it’s awesome. Within the feed there is a a mini-series called Charismatic Revival Fury hosted by a professor who researches the evangelical movement. It’s a five-part series that really is required listening to understand how the GOP has gotten to the point of its current insanity.

Pocket Casts changed their app icon to rainbow colors, presumably for Pride Month. I get a giggle thinking about how it must be driving chuds nuts, them changing apps and the hassle that comes with all that.

But I also hate it. Whenever I go to open the app, I pass over it, not looking for those colors, get confused for a brief second then realize. It also looks almost identical to IG's icon. So confusing for a dummy like me.
