On regular Uber driver side I've heard from a half dozen drivers that their pay is getting slashed. Guys at the airport coordinate declining rides to cause fare increases. Like y'all said it seems like the move to make money from these services is just going to make them not worth it for anyone involved.
That’s good enough for me, let’s get this organized social engineering ball rolling and start making alt Reddit accounts for WSB.
It’s super volatile. I say this in the least cocky way, but she’s by far the best looking woman I’ve dated (I’m an average dude that usually dates average females). She’s kind of an outlier and I’m convinced these big tips she gets are horny dudes. But I’d say most people tip little, if anything. But she’ll get one off $20 to $50 tips from dudes. Yes Uber and DD also must have weird algos because she refuses jobs with little pay and she’ll randomly just not get any offers from one or the other.
I listened to an Uber driver bitch about rates for an entire half hour ride from the airport to my hotel this spring. But it wasn’t about rates getting slashed. It was about them staying stagnant while fuel costs went up.
We used DD once at my old job when we were working late one night about 5 years ago. We were starving, it was like 9PM, and the the delivery guy never showed up with our food. I haven't touched a food delivery service since then and cringe when I see how much people pay for this shit now.
I have DashPass (and apparently whatever Grubhub's is) through a credit card. While it's still obviously marked up it isn't that horrible for the convenience. Basically anywhere I'm going to pick up food from is a 10-20 minute drive and there's nowhere except pizza places (and Jimmy John's, I guess) that deliver in-house locally. Without getting that for free I'd never use it though. Uber Eats sends me 50% off shit all the time. I'll look at ordering something and once you add on all the fees it'll be double the price.
Damn, this is like a thing of the past. Used to be somewhat common if restaurant was good and did volume.
I must be a cheap ass because I refuse to use food delivery apps. Pandemic pretty much trained us to not eat out as much. We eat 90% of our meals at home now. Used to go out 4-5 times a week. We went out for lunch a few days ago at an average place. 10 wings, a small charcuterie board, two beers, and a side of fries was $75.
I'm personally done with DD/UberEats/Grubhub unless it's on corporate dime. Prices/fees are just insane.
I went back and looked at our restaurants Delivery app sales from like 2018ish, they’ve more than 10xed since then. I personally only use it if I just don’t want to leave the house and need food like if there’s a football game on I care a lot about or something.
amex plat uber credit combined with regular 40% off deals makes it worth doing once a month i miss uberone being free
I use delivery apps all the time. It’s actually the leakiest part of my budget. But I live in a city and don’t have a car
I have Dash pass free from a credit card and I pay $10 a month for Uber One. I make the $10 back on one delivery order easy. Between the savings on those memberships and any promos an average all-in meal price is $50-$60 for two people. Probably do this twice a week. Mostly on weekends if I’m not eating out. If I eat out at a moderately priced restaurant in NY I’ll spend $150 easy. It actually saves me money because I don’t order as much food and there’s no drinks to pay for. Also, tip is way less than what you would give a server because the total is lower.
I don't get it either. I spend waaay too much of my budget eating out, but I'm either eating at the restaurant or not at all. I can't stand the experience of waiting around on a driver to deliver lukewarm food that you paid as much/more (as described above) for and then have a table full of styrofoam/plastic mess to fill up a trashcan...
Big mistake trying to correct me buddy. I'm now going to spend the next several hours posting CFA propaganda.
I guess I just like people to bring food to me. Saturday night for example, i'd had a few beers, the Alabama - TN game is amazing and I'm hungry. So why not get a bunch of sushi delivered? Was it overpriced due to fees? Could I have saved money? Could I have drove 3 minutes to get food? All yes but life is too short to eat homemade turkey sandwiches.
most takeout food kinda sucks. It gets cold, soggy, and then sometimes there are multiple stops before it gets to you.
My girlfriend will give me crap because anytime I say I’m going to use DoorDash I get to the end and see the price and change my mind and either make something at home or go grab it myself. I got a free trial of GrubHub+ for a year and even with the free delivery and stuff the price is still a joke. Mostly just say forget it out of principle.
I rolled my old HSA over to a fidelity account recently. Any suggestions on where to put it? It’s only 2.5k
