Wife made me get out go to a couple dealers today to look at 392s. One dealer had one, but wrong color and top. He said normally they are asking $10k over msrp but would let me order one for $5k over. It was outside and blocked in so we couldn't drive it but at least got to crank. My God. They had the loud exhaust option turned on and my wife literally jumped. That shit sounds mean. Wife laughed and said yea we're buying one. Turn it off and it's barely louder than our v8 GC's which is how I'd drive it 90% of the time. Went to another dealer to see another color... and dude said they are asking $50k over msrp. I laughed. He said every dealer was asking that. I just shook my head and said thanks. Didn't have the desire to even argue it.
Haha that's fair. But I had a mask on bc they had a sign up so I complied even though I'm vax'd and arguing through a mask would suck.
Ah, went to JCDJR? They still have the black one? Orange park had a used 200 miles on it they were asking 92 for.
Yea the OP one with 250 miles on it. That's the one we were able to start. That's who said they'd order one for $5k over msrp. The one on Commonwealth was the one asking $50k over. Going to make a call tomorrow to the dealer Simon Templar used this week and see if I can do the Costco thing.
They ordered the synchro for the 4th and reverse. All covered. The dude was really cool and told him to look at everything when they have it all taken apart because I'm so close to the 3yr/36k warranty. Pretty easy process. Is there anything you guys think I should have them look at?
Also, something you may need to know - when you floor it and pass someone, there is so much lift on the front that you'll actually be pulled towards the car you're passing. So hold on tight.
Hell yea! What wheels are those? I'm not in love with the wheels I got due to having the Extreme Recon package. I really like the regular wheels but they are 7.5" wide and it doesn't seem like a good idea to put 37s on them. But I fucking love the concept vehicle, so much so I'm going to order red seats for it.
This is the closest aftermarket wheels I've found to the regular wheels. Would need to get them powder coated to match the oem wheels and have a custom center cap made to replace the Dirty Life one but the design itself is close and it's a 9" wheel.
Custom made by a buddy at Signature Wheel in Cali. 9" wide so they were able to fit the 35x20x13.5 Recon Grapplers I wanted. He also cleared enough inside if I wanted to buy bigger calipers, which I'm sure I will one day. You get Granite Crystal? I was close to ordering that but I optioned for black, hard to go wrong with that. If they brought back Ocean Blue for the 392 it'd be a no brainer for me.
Any chance your buddy wants to make a set of the regular 392 wheels in a 9" width? Yea I went with this color due to the concept. Really just want a copy of it, honestly.
I doubt he can make a carbon copy of the OEM wheels (wider), but even if he could, you don't wanna pay that much. But if you insist, I can ask him.
Ask, please. I have no idea if we're talking $1k a wheel or $5k a wheel. And I'm kinda torn on what to do with this thing now. It's OK now but I'm not in love with the look/stance. Kinda want to go with a lighter silver wheel to add some pop but I keep going back to making a copy of the concept. Going to sit on it for a fee weeks.
He can split an oem 392 down the middle, add 1.5" in the middle, and glue the fucker back together for all I care lol
So jelly of those 392s. Fighting so hard against trading mine in. I could probably get 45K+ for mine. Did y'all have to pay dealership mark up?
Too bad you didn't post until today. Sold my OEMs literally this past Sunday. Anyway, here's Wonderwall. (stay tuned, i'll post when he answers)
Na Simon Templar actually linked me up.a dealer that did it like 8% below MSRP. Dealers here wanted $30k-50k over retail smh
Yea a local guy here has a set but they are just too narrow. My shop guy said the 37s would bubble out and crown at the top and ride like shit.
Yea I added every option available (extreme Recon, one touch top, half doors, tow package, front camera, etc) except the gorilla glass bc I forgot to check the box for it. Msrp was $88k and change and they sold it to me for $81k and change.
Fuuuuuuuuuk that's pricey. Hopefully its smooth and theres no issues with it being a new model basically. Interested to hear if the have any recalls
Yea it hurt but it'll hold its value as well as almost any car ever so that's how I justified it to myself. Wranglers already are normally #1 in that category and they aren't going to make these long. But yea it hurt to pay that much. I could sell it today for a profit though.
Yeah well I got the gorilla glass so suck on that. Didn't get recon package as I had my own plans. Maybe you can get the GG installed from a dealership when the inevitable happens. Recalls *should* be at a minimum considering they've made JLs for years and Hemis for years, both technically the same company, just jam it all together and upgrade suspension and chassis strength (among other ish) and call it a day. Otherwise I'm sketch on first model years myself.
The jam it all together part is what I would worry about. Agreed on The new models thing. When they put in that the 3.6, I think it was, it had all kinds of recalls.
From his answers it seems like it would be not a ground-up design, they don't copy others as expected. Also the more I thought about it, even if you had a set, sending to california or Taiwan or wherever seems...insane...considering the current delays and protocols with shipping. He suggested a good local welding shop. Seems like you should aim for the "close enough" aftermarket solution so you don't keep chasing that carrot. But it's your vision, bruh.
I've spent more time researching this than I care to admit lol. It looks like they used the regular 392 with the real beadlock ring, not the vanity ring they come with. Notice this one has 24 beads, not 11 like the ones that come on them. It brings the tire out further, making the wheel look more recessed in there. With the true beadlocks, it's an 8" wheel, and I think it'll work. Going to get with my shop guy tomorrow.
This is how they come Jeep with just the vanity ring. You can see a gap between the ring and the tire. The tire edge sits way further back and the wheel looks flat. It's bc the other one has a true beadlock.
Correct. The concept looks like a legit beadlock whereas the production wheel is "beadlock capable". Also the wheel itself looks different as well but you're not dragging me down that rabbit hole. Good luck. Keep updates on here with whatever you do.
It does look a little different. The concept wheel is a little concaved in. Not as much as the Dirty Life, but it's definitely not flat. One of the designers is on the 392 owners fb group and he's going to get back to me on it. The tire being further out due to the true beadlock okays a roll in making it look recessed.
JokerEyez5 man now that I know the concept wheels are entirely different than the production wheels, idk what to do. I'm all over the board now, even thinking of going to 20" wheels after buying tires for 17" wheels just yesterday lol. I like all of these. I think all are 17" except the last one. Normally not a 20" fan but man they look good on the JL.
I don’t see you rock crawling in Florida so nothing wrong with a 20” wheel other than weight. Get forged wheels
More of rhe 2nd one. Like it a lot. Wouldn't do that exact wheel but a similar 17" in a dark grey color like that.
I like the one you like as well. Maybe have a shop color match it with crystal granite? I have 20's on my 35s for a more proportional look, but I'm more of a 17-18" guy if you are going to do some serious rock climbing later on. I was going to use the factory set up for offroading but now that I've sold them I'm prob gonna yolo whenever I go offroad with what I have. They're forged and lighter than factory, but they weren't cheap and God knows those rocks will jump out to bite them. Is what it is. I will say I notice a lot of dings in the rear fenders already (PPF'd), so remember if you start pushing the tires out more, the more dings and other shit those tires will fling up on itself. But at some point you have to realize it's still a Jeep.
Put a 2.5” lift and 35’s on my wife’s Jeep Wrangler this past weekend. Other than a superchip and cold air intake, what’s the best way to increase gas mileage? She was around 19 mpg before and now it’s down to 10 mpg
Sheesh it's that bad? That's worse than my 392 on 37s lol. A re-gear would help it some. I assume it has 3.73 gear now? It's having to work hard to turn the 35s. The re-gear will make it feel like it has a lot more power too.
Yeah I thought about upgrading the gears but looking at cheaper options at the moment. Cold air intake and superchip could get me back up to what it was before the lift. Wife works from home so she doesn’t drive much anymore
Yeah that's bad. Re gear the axles. Depending on the year and motor. Mine went up from 11-14. 15 on the highway Mine went down to 11-12 with the lift and 35s.
