Broken plane wing found on a La Reunion island could be from missing flight MH370 Amy Willis for Metro.co.ukWednesday 29 Jul 2015 4:39 pm Piece of wing found on La Réunion Island Part of a plane wing has washed up on a remote island near Madagascar, raising speculation that it could be from missing flight MH370. The debris is believed to be part of a Boeing 777 – the same model aircraft as the ill-fated Malaysia Airlines plane. The piece, which was found on La Reunion Island this morning, is thought to be a ‘flaperon’, the part of the wing that controls the roll and bank of an aircraft. It was reported that investigators are trying to identify the piece and that it had remained for some time in water. Investigators will use flight tracks to try and identify where the piece originated. http://metro.co.uk/2015/07/29/piece-of-plane-wing-found-on-a-la-reunion-island-could-be-from-missing-flight-mh370-5318318/#ixzz3hIi10tx

Hi Corky, I bet there are some cool books about how that came to be, biologically and ecologically speaking. I don't know of any off the top, but I'd make that bet. Best, Mickey
Pretty good chance that its from MH 370 since only 3 B777 have ever crashed. Spoiler Before the pilot on Asiana decided to come up short in San Fransisco it had the longest run of a new airplane series not crashing. almost 20 years.
It will be a long task to identify which plane this wing came from when you consider how damaged and worn it likely is. Commercial airliners are not constructed from materials that can withstand the heat of re-entering the Earth's atmosphere.
It also has most of the world records for precipitation. Insane levels. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_weather_records#Rain
This reminds me of the Malaysia flight that was shot down in Russia. Anything ever come of that? Or did Russia brush it under the rug?
true, however no passengers died in the London crash. They've had a number of small mishaps but I think only 5 have resulted in totaling out the airplane, and three with the loss of passenger lives. I believe it was Egypt Air that ran out of gas and laid one down shot of the runway in Cairo.
Russian state media has convinced Russians that Ukraine or "somebody" did it, and they are using their security council seat to stop a UN investigation.
@wsvn: #BREAKING: Debris in photo belongs to same type of aircraft as the missing #Malaysia plane: US official
Between 7 and 8 January 1966, Cilaos at the centre of Réunion received 1,869.9 millimetres (73.62 in) of rainfall. This is the greatest 24-hour precipitation total ever recorded on earth
