They dont play instruments so they're not gonna venture off into different sounds and genres So what do we do to re-invent.....oh I got it lets find an artist to start a beef with
Is it really even beef though? Idk I just don't listen to any of it and think these guys don't like each other. It's not personal. It's just "I'm the best" "no I'm the best." And I'm absolutely fine with it being just a competition, just the media hypes it up as beef and I just don't see it. This is more friendly competition than true beef imo.
Agreed. It's also not really about album sales or PR imo. Neither Kendrick nor Cole struggle with sales and their legacies are both cemented. It's just 2 dudes who both feel that they're the best right now going head-to-head to prove it. It's like Jay Z and Nas in 01. I dig it. It's what makes hip hop unique.
The Drake stans biggest diss I’ve seen is Kendrick is a “part time rapper”. Which is hilarious coming from people who enjoy the corniest Motherfucker around.
poets did it too in the 1800s and 1900s something about being involved in wordplay just makes people want to use those words to shit on people I guess
Truth be told I’ve never enjoyed much from Cole or Drake so I’m not interested in it at all. Kendrick is miles better than both and I don’t see the point in talking about it.
It’s what confuses me about Coles response. It feels like he’s saying “they don’t play your shit in the club” when they don’t play j-cole in the club. Its just felt like he was pandering to drakes audience
Drake makes music for people who have designer clothes but their check engine has been on for 3 months and they just ignore idk how anyone can really expect him to compete
Rappers will turn anything into a song intro smdh. Also, imagine putting Cam on a song in 2024 and expecting me to take it seriously.
Also Cole is the rap version of that joke about how Lebron is always carrying a book around but it’s never been opened
tbh I kinda respect Cole for that. The whole thing seemed forced and contrived. idk why people want them to feud. They can compete for the crown without hating each other and making diss tracks.
Can’t spend three years calling yourself better than most rappers and literally asking people to try you just to run out of the ring as soon as some does
That's fair. I don't mind every rapper calling themselves the best, that's always been thing. Asking for people to try you if you don't want to get into a back and forth is lame though. Like I said the other day, this whole thing never felt personal. It was just a couple guys trying to say they were the best. Anything past that felt forced.
The Heart part IV is actually more appropriate for this situation due to these lines here specifically Just relistened and had forgot that the Heart part IV ends with the line "Y'all got until April 7th to get your shit together." Then I looked at my calendar
If you didnt come up on mixtape era Cole (friday night lights, sideline story) you missed out Kendrick's albums though>>>> Section 80, GKMC, TPAB, Damn was maybe the best 4 album run ever. right up until Mr Morale....I mean, if Cole wanted to diss that record, Im listening. Bit of a a disappointment after a 5 year wait
also, not defending the corniness, culture stealing, accent faking, softness, goofiness etc etc...... but once upon a time (from 2013 to 2016).... drake was actually good. he lost the plot a loooong time ago though
Drake is more of a pop star than a true rapper, but Take Care and Nothing Was the Same are both loaded with bangers. If you were on a college campus at that time, those albums were the soundtracks of your life in that moment.
His bars about Kendrick’s catalog were very much true for the “I’m here for the vibes” guys side of hip hop. That side of hip hop is very fucking relevant historically and push the culture along far moreso that the type of fan that Kendrick typically appeals to. The fact that Dot has found the mainstream audience he has and managed to keep and grow them through the years is remarkable when you look at it along the lines of the history of the genre and the artist like him and their lack of success. I truly would believe Drake if he tossed out shots against Kendrick along the lines of what Cole did because I believe that Drake probably does think that Kenny’s only good albums are the ones he was featured on and the one that yielded a number one hit. Being that Cole has spent a good chunk of his career toeing the line between being athletic type bars guy and a sincere conscience minded lyricist, those bars felt forced and like lies. I don’t think any fan of Kenny’s music thinks any less of Cole after last night, I sure don’t. The only people who are mad are Drake fans who probably barely gave a fuck about J-Cole until first person shooter.
people went for mos but he was spot on with his drake assessment also give me disses like kurupt calling out names
Drake’s diss album would be corny as hell and those white girls and teenagers that listen to him will gobble it up.
Okay wtf is going on. did j Cole turn around and diss Drake now. Also hearing asap rocky and The Weeknd got involved
Not another Friday of manufactured drama about Drake The average Drake fan got a brain smoother than Kevin Durant’s jump shot
