Will be interesting to see how we handle Wade Taylor. He takes like 30% of their shots and appears he can take things over in a hurry, he’s been hot the last few weeks. Need to do better than we did against Shannon that’s for sure. Positive is he doesn’t appear to get to the line much unlike Shannon.
The stature difference there has to help us out a bit too. Shannon is a monster and Taylor, for all his skill and quickness, doesn't have that bully ball in him.
In the works and a 100% ‘nothing to see here! We have everything under control!’ alas I’m a fan I’ve separated first 3 years of Fred and last 2 years. He went big on recruiting AND covid absolutely didn’t help matters. Fred got back to some fundamentals and play set designs he does so well AND he realized we need to be better defensively. I truly don’t see us not being competitive going forward. Obviously going to have years where they might be around .500 and NIT door scratchers. I don’t see any shit teams & I expect to be a tourney competitive team every other year for the foreseeable future. A culture is in place and PBA is a dog to play at.
I expect to be a tourney level team next year, but I’m talking 50% of the time they have a legit chance to be in. 2 years from now, step back, then step forward again.
Agree. My wtf was directed towards the comedics of not having a president or AD when this gets announced. I would guess they had been working on it and were just making sure we didn’t choke the final couple weeks. Then Trev leaving probably sped up an announcement. If you’re bringing him back you can’t do it and not extend, or else you run into what Miles had where recruiting is impossible.
Also it’s making me laugh how in the past week “leadership” has managed to overtake “culture” as the new buzzword down in Lincoln.
Also, I am sure it's been in the works, but wondering how much Trev leaving played a part in this new President being announced tomorrow. What speed to make such decisions
It’s not unusual for presidents searches to take a very long time. If there is any correlation at all, it’s far more likely Trev was aware of who the pick was and wanted no part of it. That’s IF there was a correlation which I don’t think anyone has reason to believe.
They crash the boards harder than anyone and we’re not great rebounders so gotta focus there. They crash because they don’t shoot well so hopefully that continues. If we make 8 or more threes and aren’t like 8-40 I think we’ve got a shot.
How often do you go to baseball games? I have a buddy who I played with in college who has season tickets to Arky baseball and football and I swear he’s down there every weekend and that’s with a drive from Des Moines
We shoot well and they do not and they rebound well on offense and we do not. We could/can have shown ability to focus on rebounding and make it close to 50/50 in which case we are pretty hard to fucking beat. We are also Nebraska and probably will see them shoot 40% from deep when we shoot 30% from deep and that would kill us. it’s a ‘something has to give’ type game and that means Juwan Gary needs to play boss-mode, Allick can’t trip on himself, and Brice needs to not take off possessions. When that happens and Kesei and/or Wilcher get hot we are pretty close to impossible to beat. Alas…we can beat you a million ways and also lose the same way. We live by 3 and die by it, mostly. (We are good defensively but not overly athletic)
Try to make it up there a couple of times a year. Depends on tix and if wife can get out of town for a weekend. You should make the trip if you can. Obviously talking about baseball and not football for atmosphere reasons
Oh they are garbage. If we do what we did last year against them it would be horrible. hockey on the other hand??? Very good. Very good
Happy to see our B-ball team in the March madness and our west coast b-ball team beating up on swimtown!
Nebraska basketball expectations are so low you can walk over them with a walker. Don't go below .500, make the NIT more often than not and make the NCAA tourney every 5-10 years. Closer to 5 would be great.
Does he think we need to use NIL to our advantage? If yes then I’m fine with it. Does he think the youths are privileged enough as it is and they should want to come to Lincoln out of the goodness of their hearts? Send him to the gulag
From his UW profile. Seems like he has a good pulse on the future of CFB. Dannen is a leading national voice in intercollegiate athletics, currently serving his fourth year as Chair of the NCAA Football Competition Committee and as an Executive Committee member of the Football Oversight Committee. From 2021 through 2023, Dannen served on the NCAA Constitution Committee and then the Division I Transformation Committee, as one of a small group of chancellors, presidents, Directors of Athletics, commissioners and Faculty Athletic Representatives across all three NCAA divisions tasked with charting a future path for college athletics. In 2022, Dannen was a finalist for Sports Business Journal’s Athletic Director of the Year award, and he received the Distinguished American Award by the Sugar Bowl Chapter of the National Football Foundation.
Yeah I guess that seems pretty good. Our track record with hiring ADs from state of Washington schools is excellent so hell yeah man
didn't play under Dr Thom and no experience honoring the Heroes or the corn farmers, color me unimpressed. hope he doesn't support the CRT at least.
Anyone going to pump the brakes a little and ask if this is legit? We have no university leadership and we hire an apparently solid AD within a week of unexpectedly losing the last? I’m skeptical hippo
Interim Pres Chris whatever-the-heck said they had a ton of applicants and wanted to move quickly so doesn't seem as crazy as it could be
