A friend of mine told me she thought the same thing when she and her husband built their first house, and then realized you have to actually go upstairs and vowed to never again have a two story home.
Ours was more of a 1970’s love machine. We bought it off of a guy who played lead guitar in a band, who got married and had two kids, so stopped living the 1970’s love machine van life. My parents bought it to haul equipment for my mom’s band, and for the 1970’s love machine vibe. We had this model, metallic green, mini chandiliers in back.
When my parents were able to save enough money to bring me back from a 3rd world country because they could afford rent on a small apartment
This is hilarious to me because some of my earliest memories are laying on my parents waterbed...in our trailer.
I inherited my mom's 1989 geo metro that I was too embarrassed to drive, so I immediately sold it for a 1991 ford escort
lol taking a vacation. Having cable is TV. Shopping for clothes or shoes every year before school started. Getting clothes bought after you turned 14. Getting an allowance.
shit like this reminds how big of a douche my old man was. He fucking sold me my first car. Not only did he sell it to me but he overpriced it. I can’t imagine being given a car by him.
We weren't poor by any means, but we never had cable or satellite... no idea if it was a function of where we lived or to save money or to keep evil TV from influencing me, but I never got to watch Nickelodeon or anything unless I was at someone else's house. So I always thought having cable was the height of luxury.
I still carry a (relatively) lot of cash because my dad did. I don’t think he ever gave me money other than in cash.
Friend’s house who had the second landline so you could call them even when they were surfing the World Wide Web
After my MIL died, my wife and her sisters organized a three week road trip out west because my FIL had never been west of Chicago. We booked all the accommodations and he stayed with us no cost. He brought $2000 cash with him.
I remember a kid a few neighborhoods over had a Neo Geo gaming console. I thought of it as some mystical made up creation, and that no one could possibly have a home video game system that played arcade quality games. That kid became a legend to all of us for that Summer.
Hahaha my wife and I went with my parents to Hawaii a few years ago and my mom brought probably $3k in cash in an envelope. I had to make her stop pulling it out trying to pay for dinner and stuff. She still doesn’t own a debit or credit card.
Same here.... except I got it in 2002 and it was my grandfathers 1988 model year, dark purple in color. Also, He left it sitting under some oak trees for two years with the sunroof open in an attempt to air it out after he spilled 5 gallons of diesel in the trunk. Took me forever to clean it out.
$973 I’m in Philadelphia. I had $600 yesterday and grabbed $500 before leaving town. I generally have between $500 and $1000 on me.
