Yeah it's a trade I can live with. It would also probably force us to draft an edge rusher at 9 because I doubt any of the top WRs would be there.
all for this. i highly doubt a good QB would be there at 8 and I just can't picture JJ McCarthy working out in the NFL
The top 3 teams all need a QB and it’s a crap shoot anyways. How has the rebuild not made sense? We are in a good position to get a qb, get veterans in FA, and build through the draft on a Team that almost made the playoffs with the worst Coach and QB play in the league. dumb post is very dumb
Yeah I’m sure you had us going 7-9 like three years in a row with no playoff appearances in a terrible division. Drafting a RB and TE as highly as we did was stupid. Not tanking with Mariota at QB and a horrible roster made no sense. Wasted opportunity after wasted opportunity. A safety is our highest paid player iirc. Draft is a crapshoot so let’s give up a second for a QB who might have been a better fit for our old offense, and barely has better numbers than Ridder. And he is due for a new deal soon. Find what makes sense. This is the definition of throwing shit against the wall and praying it sticks
I'd kill for Daniels, but how much would we have to give up to get him? You have to hit on that kind of trade otherwise you've fucked your draft the next couple of years.
The mistake was not tanking harder to get a top 3 pick. You can't do shit with the number 8 pick. I don't remember the last time trading into the top 3 ever worked out for a team.
Seeing some scuttlebutt that we might be trying to get Cousins now? Not exactly a big name dropping this rumor, not sure how I feel either way though.
I am going on record as being numb to whatever this franchise does at QB. Just don't get fleeced by the Bears when they have zero leverage.
We have like 6 coaches on staff that were a qb coach of some sort including Zac Robinson. How about we trust those guys instead of the one man show of Arthur Smith we had last year.
Give me Cousins over Fields. I think we could win now with Cousins. Fields is still too raw and do we want to pay him next year?
He'd be my first choice too, but I don't care who we take. Ill trust who they grade as their must-have guy. This QB class looks loaded at the top, and you know 1-2 will be elite. I don't care about giving up 1-2 extra picks to lock down the most important position for the next few decades, and teams rarely hit on their haul of picks anyways. I have a feeling teams ahead of us like the Giants or Patriots will pass on whichever QB is on the board after Williams and whoever goes 2nd too.
we have been in that 8-15 range seemingly every year since the super bowl. it's been absolute purgatory and even if play the worst quarterback manageable we were still able to win too many games last year because for some reason the defense was actually pretty good.
Or, if the Falcons want Fields, they should be looking at Cousins pretty hard and openly. There doesn't seem to be a big market for Fields, so no point in letting the Bears think they have leverage over a player that they clearly have to trade away and not many want. Maybe they could get out with just giving up a single 2 and/or a package of lower picks.
Cousins is about to be 36, then there's Fields or I guess JJ McCarthy. Gun to my head seems like Fields is the move. You keep your pick and I don't the Falcons will win anything with Cousins. Maybe you're a playoff team in a bad division but idk long term
I don't disagree but I think cousins gives you immediately a much higher ceiling but the money and his age/injuries are definitely a concern. Fields is still very talented, I just hope he hasn't had his confidence ruined.
Seems like Fields is boom or bust. At least if he's bad you're prob going 3-14 and have a top 5 pick that maybe they won't screw up.
Do you genuinely think he's better than Fields? I think Ridder is better than what he showed last year but I'm not sure he's better than Fields.
No real way of knowing. I like our OC and what he did with Stafford in LA. We have some nice weapons. We have a solid defense that should get better. Although I thought our last DC was good.
Ridder > Fields is crazy IMO I want Cousins or Fields. Drafting is a crap shoot and whoever we get at 8 will be a reach and the bounty to trade down for a coin flip that the guy pans out isn't worth it given the overall state of the roster.
I have confidence our current staff could, and I am team Fields or Cousins if that's the choice. My only hesitation on Fields is the contract situation.
I didn't watch the Bears much the past couple of years, but I feel like Fields at least has shown he has WAYYYYY more talent than Ridder, and a ton of his problems were O-Line (I think?) and a shitty OC. Am I offbase?
Fields looked good at times for the Bears and bad at times. Bears have a bunch of issues though. Not that the Falcons are going to fix him. He just seems like the best long term option where you don't give away much and you're at least making an effort to upgrade the position
I know he's kind of a meme, but I've always been a big fan of Cousins. He's been with loser franchises his whole career (which would continue if he came here).
The COVID shit made me like him less but he's not as bad as Rodgers. I just want to see this team make a playoff run.
