look fellas the only way to get that miracle permafrost microorganism dna was to turn the big pollution dial to 11
Just so dumb throughout. Wasted a great setting and potential acting. Ep5 gave me hope but that was horrible.
92% on RT, sorry I don’t agree with seeing dead people and some ridiculous curing diseases in ice caves counts as good TV. Critics think they’re so much smarter than they actually are that shit sucked
I give the season a solid meh. Not aggressively stupid other than this: but not particularly good either.
Premiere was solid downhill from there script sucked ass you can’t end a detective show with some “whatever you think happened, happened” resolution
They went from freezing in the research building with a fire to walking around outside with their coat to falling in the water and warming up by that same fire. Was it cold or was it not cold.
I felt like this show has been getting worse and worse the longer I’ve watched it, but with about 20 minutes to go it’s really just become one contrived drama scene after another.
I don't think it was that bad, but in reading this thread, I don't think the primary themes are being followed by this thread.
Also they simply can not allow the characters to grieve their trauma in front of the camera without playing some dumbass song with dumbass lyrics
Really not a fan of the finale. But oh well. Not mad I watched. Spoiler the sporadic interrogation and their tactics were dumb and made no sense. also, how long was that nap Danvers took so he could turn into a human popsicle?
What exactly are the primary themes? The ask the right question would have weight if there wasn’t so much nonsense. The spiral signal kinda added up I guess
That indigenous lives are treated as inferior, and violence against indigenous women are generally ignored and not investigated. the only murder or mystery that mattered this season was Annie K.
Did I miss something in the first five episodes that remotely pointed to a group of 15 women killing the scientists? Surely there was some clue or easter egg that had I been watching YouTube recaps I would’ve known about but it was just so goddamn random to me.
I do remember thinking it was odd how they showed that random lady’s reaction to the spiral in the first ep. It seemed very intentional. And I remember thinking it was kind of lame if that was some type of set up. And yea as far as I can tell that was the only scene that involved any of those women.
Something I listen to called the abuse victim being involved in the killings after episode 2 and 3 because she kept showing up even if just for a second.
Think I’d rather go into an ice cave than an underwater cave but fuck caves, being trapped in something is my worst nightmare
didnt care for the 4 first eps, thought the last 2 eps were better but the scientists killing annie seemed incredibly dumb would've been better if just the one person went crazy and when they tried to stop him it was too late
That was utter cringe trash. Holy fuck all the women coming in one by one as she told the story I have a seizure disorder now from cringing. This show has always been bloated with cheap psychotic mysticism and it's so bad
How tf did HBO sign off on this script and give it the True Detective brand Better yet, Jodie foster signed onto this? As EP?
This was objectively better than season 2, don't think the True Detective name is the guarantor of quality you think it is
I was expecting something to explain all the ghosts/zombies/possesions. I guess we can assume it's the water and mental illness.
I didn't hate it as much as the rest of you but I completely agree about the scientist gang murder and the house slowly filling up with the janitorial crew of women.
This was the worst part of the episode for me. The rest of it was okay other than the “selective freezing” being too cold while dry but not too cold soaking wet. the indigenous women killing the scientists was a better answer to the murder than “poison water” by a fucking mile.
Navarro hallucinated during the show and suffered from mental illness just like her sister (who we also saw hallucinate) and monther. That shouldn’t have been hard to follow IMO
I'm not confident this was mental illness, it seemed more like spirit realm shit. Navarro was told her native family name in a vision. Aunt Petunia was led to the corpses by a ghost. This show laid on the mysticism probably thicker than it should have.
