I think Drew definitely votes for Austin. Emily is a bit of a wild card. She has zero connection to Dee.
Could Jake end up winning if he orchestrates Dees exit with his idol and is left with a final 3 of him, Katurah and Austin? Austin could get pulled apart at final tribal. - Gave an idol to someone which was ultimately used against him by losing an allie in Emily - Told Dee about Julie being the vote which saw her play the idol - Got played by Dee and lost his offsider - Lost focus due to crushing on Dee
Katurahs explanation makes no sense. She said she changed it because she thought the votes were on her, so how would not voting with Jake save her?
Jake is such an unlikable douchebag. Just an all time pathetic bitch and they should leave his ass out there. Dee with one of the more impressive performances in recent memory
Not impressed with Dee winning. Austin/Drew insulated her game and, more importantly some of the poorest gameplay I've ever seen.
Idk why you hate the guy so much. He was the only person to take swings at the Reba 4 the entire game. Without Jake at least trying this season would have been an utter snooze fest.
I can't get over how bad of a player katunah was. She didn't trust Jake. But hitched her wagon to Austin/Dee. Just pure stupidity across the board.
She played errand person for the Reba 4 the entire season. I don't blame Jake for not telling her he would play his idol on her. In every situation this season, she has immediately told one of those four what the minority folks were doing. I'll die on the hill that the Reba 4 weren't excellent game players. They just played with idiots that either didn't try to take them out or had word vomit every five minutes
My wife thinks Dee deserved it because of the Austin play with Julie. I somewhat disagreed. Austin and Drew insulated her so much and allowed her to be a bystander for half the season. She wouldn’t have been able to get to that point had Austin and Drew not made the moves. I think she was strong socially but so much luck was involved. Austin found idols, advantages, and made plays that enabled their success. He made two mistakes—letting Julie keep that idol and telling Dee about Julie. Dee didn’t make those mistakes but she also didn’t instigate many moves. Fun season.
Jake and Katurah were truly terrible players, like yes Jake tried to make moves but he is so terrible it was impossible for anyone to trust him. They did nothing of consequence the entire time and if anything their bizarre play just created messes at a lot of the eliminations. The only real debate is who played better between Austin and Dee and IMO Dees moves on Emily and Drew outweigh anything Austin did. He had control of the game with his idols but didn’t do anything with it and really just became Dee’s pawn. Dee played a great game. overall this was a very entertaining season, I feel like the build up was that we would get some lifelong survivor fans playing exceptional gameplay and instead we got the opposite.
This was a chaotic season with the Hialeah girl being the deserved winner in a group of meh to terrible players. Julie: typical mom type who was a beast at the endurance challanges but meh strategy Jake: knew that moves needed to be made but didn't know how to do it in a strategic way. He just wanted to make moves to make moves. Don't know how that dude is a lawyer. Drew: Knew the strategy but came off as a douche. Meh Bruce: Would have been great in seasons 1-5 of survivor. Terrible now. Katurah: All time bad player. Shit at challenges, shit strategically, shit social. Unnecessarily obsessed with Bruce. She literally handed a million dollars to Dee with an all time bad blunder. If she didn't have the horrible upbrining with the cult, she'd be completely forgettable and would have gotten exponentially less screen time. Emily: Completely re-shaped her game after starting off horribly. Would love to see her get a second chance. Austin: Good at challenges, good socially, but didn't have the strategic chops to get it done. Putting the pussy on a pedestal and telling Dee about the Julie blindside is almost as big of a blunder as Katurahs Dee: Hialeah's finest. Good for her. In a typical season she probably gets bounced in 5th or 6th place as the pawn whose time had come but with this cast, she was a deserving winner. Good at challenges, and smart enough to put the game first. Good for her.
I have not yet finished the post show but saw the ending and how it all went down. A few comments from the season. I actually think the right 3 people made the final tribal. Austen and Dee deserved it based on their gameplay and I thought Jake deserved it for his perserverience and "want" to play the game. With that said, this will go down as one of the all-time bad decision making seasons. The fact that an open alliance of 4 actively ran the entire game and EVERYONE knew it, is wild to me. It was only once they started turning on each other near the end that it came apart. Essentially everyone post merge, except for Jake, basically went along with the power 4's plans and rarely discussed doing anything together. I just cannot get over the fact that Katurah and Emily so easily joined the power 4 when it was obviously clear they were just pawns/extra votes. Katurah not voting with Jake is an all time horrendous mistake, and her reasoning still makes no sense. Whether Jake had the idol or not, it seemed that she was another likely target. Throwing a random vote on Julie wouldnt have changed the outcome if the power alliance had wanted her or jake out. Along that same thought process, if they were planning to split votes, or the power 4 could not agree, her throwing extra votes on Dee would have 100% helped her. Jake telling her his idol plan would have only hurt his game, and should have had no bearing. Just amazingly dumb move. I actually liked Jake alot and think he isnt getting enough credit. Sure, he is a bumbling idiot at times but he was the only one that was pushing to make moves. Its not his fault that he was playing with some all time dumb players at the bottom. Bruce was a moron and unable to think stragegically, Katurah couldnt stop thinking about Bruce, and once he was gone she just told the power 4 everything. Emily sided with the power 4 very early and never seemed to be interested in making a move. Not sure what Jake could have done differently, but those 3 ruined their own games and hurt his in the process. Kudos to him for staying in it as long as he did. Dee and Austin was a toss up to me, although I think Austin might have deserved it more. Austin controlled the game for the first 75% of the time but Dee came on strong at the end. She made 2-3 really good moves and got super lucky that Katurah was an idiot, but she showed out in the most important stages. Not surprised it was as close as it was.
Dee was one of the more dominant players in recent history. I thought she was going to sweep tribal. Austin made a really good argument for himself, but Dee held the trump card with the Julie stuff. She also won the most immunity idols. I dont get the Jake hate. He had to grind all season. Not the best player ever, but he did extremely well w what he had to work with.
Also doing the post show right after the vote instead of a reunion sucks. THey'll never go back to a reunion because of money - but it's so much better
I had this same thought last night. Getting go see the players in real time is so much better than immediately after the final vote. It just loses some of its excitement in the process. Plus it removes the ability for reflection after the show is airing, just leads to better conversations. I thought the first one was really cool but its not nearly as exciting. I also like to see each of the contestants back to their normal selves and get life updates from them.
If Jake told Katurah he was going to play his idol on her, she for sure would’ve told Dee and Julie and then Jake would’ve went packing then and there.
it was the one well thought out play jake had. You could see the triumph in his face to see that one of his plans FINALLY worked, only for Katurah to fuck it up. Katurah really was a horrible player. If she was a sorority girl from the south named stephanie with a typical privileged background, she'd be getting crushed for her game play.
Again, I think people are being too harsh on Jakes game given his circumstances. I cant imagine having to try and wrangle Koturah, Bruce, Emily and Kendra.
Honestly his plan to save Kaleb that blew up in his face was good but was too complex for everyone to even understand. Guy is smart but he can’t sell it.
Too harsh, sure. but he was also not a great player. He wanted to make a move every week, but he just wanted to make a move to say he made a move. There was no real rhyme or reason to the why he wanted to make taht move.
The rhyme or reason was that he wanted to break up the alliance that controlled the game essentially from start to finish.
Jake can blame Katurah for switching at the last minute but he made the mistake of telling everyone about the idol. He keeps it quiet, the votes are probably all on him and he chooses who goes home.
I don’t think that helps him beat Austin though. And that’s definitely how he saw it, that he needed his “flashy move”.
So, in between watching the current season. I decided to pick a random season to watch. I landed on season 30, and I have to say, this is the most in your face/toxic behavior I've seen in a minute (I know it's ten years old. But sheesh they don't hold back at all). Also, finding out that Joe is a full on qanon / save the children type was perplexing.
Sia is a pop star who is a survivor super fan. A few years ago she started giving money out of her own pocket to her favorite players during the reunion show. Because the show now is pre-recorded, she still gives away the money, but it just doesn't get as much publicity.
I feel like lawyer jokes are played out. However - it really does say something they all these lawyers want to keep their jobs a secret lol
Yeah, the dude would have killed it later on if he made it far. I found it a bit funny that Bruce didn't even ask a question at the final jury meeting and was completely checked out of the reunion.
Yeah hopefully Kaleb and Emily get another shot. Bruce not saying anything confirms he had no idea what was going on.
Emily not giving Kaleb any props for her turnaround was some bullshit. He basically carried her for the first quarter of the game after she pissed everyone off
