I bought it for like 3 dollars on 4k when the local Family Video closed... Still haven't watched it, probably should.
I saw it via a Monday Mystery Movie deal at Regal a month or two ago; it was ok I guess, but was hoping for better based on the limited reviews available at the time
28 days later is a favorite film of mine and it's basically unable to purchase anywhere. Why is this industry so stupid
The 10-15 minutes featuring Beef in Phantom of the Paradise is some of the greatest cinema I've ever seen. I love this movie.
I spent about 20 minutes messing with my TV last night because I was watching 28 Days Later and thought something was wrong with the version I was watching. Nope, it was filmed on a T-mobile Sidekick
The Empty Man surprised me, I thought it would turn to shit after that banger open but it stayed at a pretty high level, will watch again.
Saw this on Reddit and it instantly made me think of Barbarian. Looking at the comments I'm not alone. https://www.reddit.com/r/mildlyinteresting/s/vekzH886L3
Watched “Night of the Hunted” on Shudder, it goes hard in the topical commentary when it should just be a fun thriller. Worth a watch but I can’t imagine sitting through the dialogue a second time. also the new show on Peacock “John Carpenter’s Suburban Screams” is cheesy, fucking terrible recreations, gory, crass, and violent. It’s stupid fun.
Any really scary movies that have come out in recent years on streaming? I haven't seen really any new ones over the last couple of years.
We were planning on going to the theater tomorrow to watch this but thanks for playing it for free Peacock. My kid is literally a Wikipedia page for this, every scene he has a five minute monologue about what is actually happening and what is canon according to the game.
thought When Evil Lurks was pretty good but didnt live up to the hype first half was really good and then the momentum and story kinda died out
I read if you don’t know the story before you don’t know a lot of what’s going on in this movie. Any truth to this?
Watched Five nights at Freddy’s as well. I though the was pretty good imo. My son has only watched people play it but def too scary for him lol
I had no idea what was happening but the living wiki-page next to me has told me the bad guy will “always come back.”
I didn’t even know it was a game and enjoyed it. Just read the Wiki gameplay about it and the film really nails the aspect of the game. I’d probably watch it again now after reading it
Anybody seen Sick? Not a bad slasher IMO. At least has a new angle for one, though one that I'm sure will become played out over the next few years. also liked how there isn't quite as much "don't do that dumbass" as your average slasher.
lol. I think personally most terrifying movie scene I can recall was when that oldie with the head scissors came across the hallway after the long slow pan and really aggressive step forward in terrifying use of old people in general imo
Decided to stick mostly with the classics for Halloween week: Grindhouse The Thing Creepshow The Omen Texas Chain Saw Massacre Hellraiser And for Halloween night... The Evil Dead.
Anyone have any thoughts on Cobweb? Might check it out tonight along with a rising classic IMO Possum.
I read some good things this weekend about the new Hell House LLC movie. Supposed to be available on Shudder starting today.
Only have read 1-2 pages, but Smile is a movie that pleasantly surprised me last year. I think I let high expectations ruin Talk to Me. I let Rotten Tomatoes screw me yet again. Some of the more recent ones I like off the top of my head are Lights Out, Ouija: Origin of Evil, and The Empty Man. For most movies, but especially Empty Man, don't read anything about it. Just hit play. As far as User goes, I thought it was good but not excellent like Hill House and Midnight Mass. Succession vibes were too strong and some of the stories (particularly The Raven) were ham-fisted. Re-using the same actors has also gotten kind of stale.
Empty Man is very good and got misrepresented in its ad campaign. Also one of the progenitors of dark ambient/industrial music (LUSTMORD/Brian Williams, been around since 79 or so) did the soundtrack for it which really elevated it too
Think this was the film that got me into horror as a tiny booger eater. Day of the Dead is bleak af but grossly fantastic. Toss on Return of the Living Dead for the punk rock nihilist interpretation
