That is a good observation also. It was probably not meant to last and now that he is in remission he was like fuck...
The thing that struck me about that entire interaction was how long she paused and seemed to first contemplate it as a bad thing that shook her and then come to terms with it. For a moment I actually thought she was going to fully be upset with it, and that didn't make sense based upon what she had been saying. It makes much more sense for her reaction to be about Harper, and also for that to be part of why she decides to likely bang Ethan.
In the post show breakdown with Mike White he said they're going to focus on Eastern spirituality/death in season three and it sounds like it's going to be somewhere in Asia.
Can't help but wonder whether we may get a repeat character next year, and if so who? I guess they can also bring someone back from season one or nobody at all as there are no rules. I do like the idea of connecting one season to the next in some small way outside of another Four Seasons Hotel with wealthy guests. If I had a choice, I would want Greg as it would be interesting to see what comes next there.
There were signs that it was a long con back then though. His coughing fits were quite opportunistic + the only reason they meet in the first place is he was trying to get into her room “by mistake”.
Based on things I've read this definitely appears to be the case. Also, Jack was likely supposed to kill Portia or make her disappear and he backed out of it. Given the multiple loose ends, I suspect we may get more of Greg and Portia next year.
Man I don’t know if any of you listened to the prestige pod but this starlee kine woman is awful on their finale predictions episode for WL.
yep, so we are getting Greg and Portia next season. Also he made it seem like Tanya's death was only something he thought about late in last season, which would rule out the long con as intentional when season one was initially created, although it still could work.
I loved this ending. Daphne's scene when Ethan tells her was amazing. You can see her processing the information, and figuring out the best course of action for herself not to become the victim. Also Valentina has a amazing ass, I was not prepared for that.
I’m staying at a resort in the Dominican here in a few weeks when we go on our honeymoon. First time ever visiting one. Been following the FB page and a lot of the comments are clearly from wealthy people who are used to being pampered. Like I’m gonna be thrilled just to be in a cool place for a week while others are freaking out because the spa doesn’t have the preferred nectar for its Tai Ku massages. This is a very mild example but some of the posts have been reminding me of this show. Spoiler
Also I fucking died at the scene where Tanya shoots all the gays after figuring out they were going to kill her.... and then goes over to the Uncle asking "is Greg having an affair?". Like THAT'S what you're worried about? As the last 2 episodes developed, I expected Tanya to show more depth as she started to get this figured out. This scene just shows just one layer, and that layer is Oreo cookie filling. That sums up Tanya perfectly.
Thought it was significantly better than the first season. That finale made me not want more, this one definitely did. I would be surprised to see Portia again. She's not important or an interesting character.
I liked Portia and think that actress did a solid job. It was extremely tense the entire time after she realized he took her phone. I will say Portia is a moron for not escaping him immediately after that happened. Though I guess she is in a new place and doesn’t speak the language.
Told my GF that she was dumb as fuck to get into that RR with I’ve been blowing bubbles uncle fucker boy. Also, I’m a bit surprised that Giuseppe didn’t come back to murder someone after losing his piano gig.
Her sense of style was absolutely brutal. That outfit really was that bad and both my wife and I were like WTF.
Believe I read the actress chose the outfits. https://www.thecut.com/2022/12/the-white-lotus-haley-lu-richardson-defends-portia-style.html
2 amazing seasons of television did we ever find out what Jack did that got him deep in the hole or whatever to where he needed the group of gay guys to help him? I may have missed it
based on him getting hammered and signing blowing bubbles i'm thinking he's got some hooligan in him. got mixed up in an altercation with the mafia and now he's on the hook?
Kind of related but I do love how much of the show is left up to your imagination. It's not important to know what got Jack to the bottom of the hole and everyone can fill in the gaps themselves. Same way with Daphne on the island with Ethan, whatever happened between Cameron and Harper, and Dominic's relation with his wife.
I kind of assumed Jack was a sex worker, and Quentin basically got him out of that and is now trafficking Jack
watched the last two seasons of love island and jack would be perfect for that show (before he got kicked out after 2 weeks)
We had an extended family dinner last night and spent a good chunk of time debating if Season 1 or Season 2 was better. I was S1 but most were S2. Most of the S2 people thought it was close, but all of the S1 people thought S1 was a lot better.
I have started rewatching season 1. It definitely feels less complete and alive, which I attribute to what someone else said in here earlier about having to shoot during COVID restrictions. The “groups” of main characters also feels tighter or smaller in quantity?
S1 felt like it tried a lot harder to be funny than S2. It's hard to even compare the two because outside of the framework I felt really differently watching both. A lot of season 1 was laughing at the how idiosyncratic the characters are, season 2 was more analytical (but still pretty funny).
I think one major reason they felt different is that if you’ve seen season one, you assume that some insane death is coming the whole time so you focus more on that than you did on first viewing of season one. You knew that they were loading a body on the plane but it wasn’t really made clear it would be a major character.
Finally got around to finishing season 2. That was fantastic. Can't believe that kid was dumb enough to get played by a hoe.
