Loved it. They really brought it home. Tanya killed it once she found out. I knew she was going to accidentally kill herself once I saw her try to get on the boat. WTF happened tot he ladder? I don’t know how Portia got in the car with that lunatic once she had an idea of what was going on.
I have lots of thoughts that I probably need to sleep on before they’re fully formed. But my biggest take away was how awkward of a kissed Aubrey Plaza is. Zero chemistry lol.
I think so. My take was that we witnessed the transformation of Harper and Ethan into a relationship more similar to Daphne and Cam's.
Great way to end it. Jennifer Coolidge is such a good comedic actres, even though Tanya is a pretty hard character to watch. Lots to unpack with Ethan and Harper et al. Loved seeing Albie get played for the fool he is. I don't really believe he put in a good word for Dominic either.
He absolutely put in a good word for his dad. That’s why she answered the phone. He sold his mom out for a piece of pussy.
I kinda took her "not a good time" response as her being with another man and him just not telling his dad
Team Ethan banged Daphne and nice guy Albie sold out his mom for pussy Not thrilled with Greg or Portia coming back for season 3 just give us a whole new crew and Armand’s twin or something
why would she answer the phone after the tirade at the beginning of the season, fuck you, I hope you die, you fucking piece of shit something changed and it wasn’t her getting with another dude
It was pretty far from an affectionate call at the end. Maybe she just wants closure since he's being persistent. Dominic's story was supposed to be some kind of redemption or atonement though, so maybe it does make more sense that his wife opens back up to him. I still didn't take that call to be positive whatsoever, maybe just a different stage of their eventual separation.
Are we sure Greg is straight? Could Greg have been talking to Quentin on that phone call on the balcony when he said “I love you”?
Yeah, my thought was that the whole unrequited love story was bogus and Greg was playing the long con all the way back in Hawaii. Certainly sociopathic in that regard. But, man... he earned that payday. Imagine having to deal with that woman for more than a day or two?
I enjoyed Tanya’s character through two seasons but I’m also kinda glad her run is over. Loved the episode.
I think Mike White should be given a little bit of trust in the decisions he makes with the show going forward. Two excellent seasons.
It was the perfect end to her story. Her thinking she could just jump right into the boat and not even considering jumping into the water and climbing in was so on brand for her character.
I definitely think he was talking to Quentin. He said something about Tanya being clueless too. I think Greg is straight and/or bi, but he did have a thing with Quentin (which Quentin referenced a couple times) but now he is simply using Quentin's love/obsession with him to get him to kill Tanya.
after episode hinted at just that, Portia may be too smart and will just leave it alone, but someone will probably track down Greg to answer for the bodies
probably the most fun I've had with a show this year. Just really well done. I love a good dark comedy and this show made me laugh so many times. "he's kinda fucking his uncle" was one of the funniest line deliveries ever. I hope they go to a ski resort next season
Daphne saying "Maldives next year!" in last night's ep...would be a fun teaser for season 3. Daphne being the returning character next year, and either at the resort with her trainer or a group of friends would be fun.
A few episodes ago when Harper was telling Daphne she thinks the guys cheated on them. Daphne told her about a cute blonde trainer she spends a lot of time with, and how Harper just needed to find something that made her happy. She then asked Harper if she wanted to see the trainer, and showed her a pic of her kids. One of them was blonde w bright blue eyes. Kind of ambiguous if she showed Harper the kid instead on purpose of not. But that was the nod to it possibly not being his Cam's kid
Ahhh gotcha. Makes sense then. Daphne is just out there teaching lessons as the “trophy wife”. Maybe White Mike meant to juxtapose that with Tanya saying she was a doll waiting to be taken down off the shelf, where as Daphne knows how to play the part outwardly facing and just kinda do whatever she wants.
I was very surprised how enjoyable this season was. Season 1 was great but I think the themes of this season were executed much better.
Yeah this season was much better than season 1. They also fully fleshed out the “locals” much better than the Hawaii location. Mia and Lucia being full characters in the show added a ton that wasn’t there in season 1
Just read this and went right over my head in the scenes, but lots of references to the Godfather. Tanya was wearing a replica of the dress that mannequin had in The Godfather car when she shot everyone up.
Probably intentional, but she is the more evolved version of what comes next for Rachel's character from season one.
Just read this comment and forgot all about Daphne telling her that. I think this is spot on. "Daphne’s visceral reaction to Ethan’s news was the best scene in the episode. She was so hurt not only because Cam cheated on her again, but because Harper betrayed her in a sense. She tried to hard to have a girl friend in Harper, but Harper betrayed her, just like all of the other girls."
That's a good observation. She's not much of a sympathetic character but still super interesting when we get a peek behind the affable mom facade.
Wasn’t Greg sick in the first season? I thought he just saw an opportunity to live the good life for his last days. In one of the earlier episodes, Tanya mentioned some kind of experimental treatments she paid for that cured him. I think he was coming to grips with being with this woman for the rest of his life, and that sparked the whole plot in Sicily.
Some of the genius in White's writing is that all the loose ends invoke debate and introspection, and none of them feel cheap or like we got an unsatisfactory ending.
