Let's only throw one thing at simple cane at a time. He can consider your post when he's done processing mine, so give it about a week.
Oh so you are aware of that. Seems very strange then to reduce liberalism to nothing more than a rejection of religiosity.
OK, maybe a better/correct way to say it is he shares more values with the left than he does with the right. Calling him far-right or a white supremacist is disingenuous imo, that's all.
The belief that you should make your bed and wipe your bottom when you're done making poopy are both traditionally leftist positions that he has loudly and eloquently argued for.
I enjoy known Trumptards arguing that he’s actually more aligned with the left than the right as if anyone would ever buy a Trumptard adoring someone with those credentials
Mojo is acting like you're trying to cheat off his test. You made the assertion that Peterson shared values with the left numbnuts.
You made the assertion. He simply responded with "like what?" Numerous posts later you have still failed to respond to what makes you say that. Have you ever engaged in a discussion before?
I love how when someone asks him a question he responds ‘I’ve got a YouTube video on that topic...go watch it for yourself’. Imagine falling for that.
He burst on to the scene in Canada because he basically told the SJWs that he refused to use their made up pronouns for trans people. I agree with him in that I'm not addressing anyone by ze and zir. http://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-42070202
Peterson thinks universities have been infiltrated by far left ideologues and that its destroyed the ability to discuss topics/theories that don't fall in line with their views. Right now his main point of contention is that differing biological factors between sexes are being outright denied by the left. I appreciate a lot of his stuff because its well thought out and researched by him after a long career as a clinical psychologist and psychology professor. I find it amusing that that he's being called "dim" and a pseudo intellectual in here, the guy is extremely smart and has the bio to prove it. But he's largely began to speak out against much of the nonsense being pushed by academia, which is not going to play well with the hammer and sickle crew on here who worships that stuff. He's got hundreds of hours worth of stuff on youtube so it's tough to come up with a good cliffs notes summation of his stuff, so I'll just drip stuff as it pops up in here. I'm sure the usual suspects will be foaming at the mouth as they usually do when someone says anything that questions their ideology.
Wasn't exactly going for a gotcha, but aren't the breitbart and alt-right movements largely centered around first changing culture and then going after political aims? I'm including a question mark to not put you on the defensive and because I'm only 99% sure that's correct without looking it up, but that little clip seems awfully inline with that tactic
He is boring as fuck if you actually tried to listen to him. His main position is that in order for a free and open society to work, you need to be able to discuss offensive topics. And you need to be able to listen to people without dismissing their opinion based on a label. Otherwise you create an environment where certain topics are impossible to discuss and therefore we can never actually figure out a way to solve difficult problems. I wouldn't exactly call him a liberal. I don't even know if he ever really discusses much policy besides the one in Canada that he believes would make it a hate crime for a professor if you don't refer to someone in their preferred pronoun. And hell by the wording of the law I'm not even sure if it actually makes that the case. https://openparliament.ca/bills/42-1/C-16/
Candace Hope and Dave Rubin are probably more apt examples if you want to point to "liberals" who are speaking out against identity politics.
Weird he seems to find inclusivity too offensive to discuss and encourages children walking out of classes where it comes up
Are you trying to say that’s a “no true Scotsman” argument? If so, you missed the point. “Classic liberalism” is a term coined with the specific purpose of differentiating it from modern/social liberalism. It’s much, much more similar to libertarianism.
This guy sounds like a first class douche pump who preys on dumb people and both sides equally bad holier than thou folks. Seems to check out.
If I understand his position and past correctly, Rubin has an interesting perspective as someone who has drifted from center-left to right-leaning libertarian.
He thinks class stratification is a scientific inevitability, and uses lobster-fucking as an illustration. It's pretty silly.
the guy gets mad that white supremacists aligned with hate groups aren't allowed to enter the UK, he gets elevated by these same groups as a beacon of enlightened 21st century thought. all the while whining about campus protests, ending entire departments in colleges, immigration, how Frozen is an example of toxic propaganda, on and on ITS EXTREMELY CLEAR WHAT HES DOING
do all of you Jordan Peterson fans share his takes on Disney movies? And do all of you know you’re being grifted by a huckster?
He used to work for The Young Turks and then branched out on his own. He credits Larry Elder with persuading him that some positions on the right make sense. One big one is that he rails against identity politics.
Maybe you missed the part where I told him listen for himself? He has several long form conversations available where you get a good sense of what he believes. No, he doesn't categorically list ideals bullet point by bullet point but his economic, social interaction and global politics opinions definitely aren't right-wing. I mean, you can form your opinion from possibly out-of-context excerpts or articles written with whatever slant the writer chooses, but there's plenty available straight from the horses mouth.
