5 of my 6th graders brought up the idea of teachers carrying guns at school today. All 5 of them said it’s the dumbest idea ever and that it would make them feel less safe. 4 of them even brought up how bad it could potentially be if the teacher was just having a bad day. Pretty impressive the 11 year olds I teach are smarter than our president

One of the kids who was in a classroom where kids were killed did an AMA on reddit. For safety reasons, the school's policy is to have every classroom door closed and locked during class time, which was the case for the classroom he was in. Apparently Cruz was walking up to these doors and firing through the window and/or door with a high-powered rifle. Maybe an armed teacher lands a lucky shot in a scenario like that?
