All firearms registered in a trust are tracked, and all members of a trust are registered. That's a good thing
If it was proven that gun controls prevented ONE similar attack to last weeks over the next 10 years, would you say it's worth it?
Answered right here: https://www.npr.org/2016/01/05/462017461/guns-in-america-by-the-numbers The amount of guns in the USA have doubled since 1968. So 150 million to over 300 millions.
Twice as many *per capita* If we had a very very large number of guns in 1968, do we have a very very very very large number of guns now?
Republic of Florida was the group. Leader says the shit was in the group went to drills in tallahassee. Police there say no connection. I reckon some of those that work forces... Autistic or mentally ill? No.. he was is a pos. Plain as day. Students teachers staff. All..need to walk.
Yes, no one wants dead kids or mass murders. You're looking at this from the wrong end. People want a change. However, in this country we have seen numerous attempts by the federal government to use bullshit methods to try to trick people into not being able to have guns. If there was an honest attempt to reason with people there wouldn't be an issue. I already posted five different incidents in the last few years where the government tried exactly what I'm talking about. Once you ban AR15s, which account for about 2% of gun crime, and have already been banned once, and there was no change in crime- and the next shooting happens with pistols, they will call for banning pistols and continue. These are the things that give people reason to push back. Our government works in a way that they constantly look to crack the door open on individual rights protected by the Constitution. Once they get a crack they force it wide open and abuse it. The feds are also absolutely terrible at their jobs. A NICS background check is done before gun purchases. The FBI knew about at least 3 of our recent murders, and they still had guns. Asking them to do universal background checks or create a registry, likely doesn't do anything. Its making a change, just to make a change and feel better because we did something.
Yes, we had a her large number of guns then and even more now, although those numbers look to be off. Both cases, tons of guns in the US. I highly doubt a person doubling the number of guns the owned made them commit mass murder, or kill someone in the heat of the moment. Wouldn't it make more sense to say they were fucked up or had no moral compass and try to address that issue?
Probably not, his question was “could.” There’s significantly higher muzzle velocity on rounds fired from a rifle compared to those from a pistol, but these weren’t armored targets. A pistol with a few high capacity magazines could have had the same death count, yes.
Either way. More people are killed by handguns a year than assault rifles. Handguns need to be banned first.
Absolutely. Can carry more ammo, glocks have large capacity magazines. Shit, even a 10/22 with a 25 round magazine would do the same. Like Brick said, an AR shoots roughly the same size round as a 10/22, but it has a larger "charge" of powder which unless you are shooting a hardened target doesn't matter. In fact its likely better in this case because the round passes through the target cleanly and doesn't bounce around inside the body like pistol rounds. Pistol round are also commonly sold in hollow points which can fuck people up even with something small like a pocket carry .380
Also for the registry crowd: We just had two officers(suburb of Columbus) killed by a shithead. It wasn't his gun. It was loaned to him by someone in Cleveland. This guy shot two cops and was on life support until two days ago. The original gun owner was in court on Thursday and sentenced. How do you think that happened? How did the know who owned the gun? http://m.cleveland19.com/story/3748...-in-shooting-of-2-westerville-police-officers
22LR isn’t “roughly the same size round” in any way other than diameter. There’s a huge difference between 35-40 grain and 55-80 grain standing still. When you’re dealing with substantially different muzzle velocities, it’s an even bigger deal.
Thought I'd look back at this tweets from past shootings vs. NFL Vegas: Ts and Ps Praise Police Ts and Ps I Vegas Praise first responders Lastly: So wonderful to be in Las Vegas yesterday and meet with people, from police to doctors to the victims themselves, who I will never forget! Texas: Ts and Ps Murica FL: Ts and Ps Monitoring situation Citizens fault for not reporting this guys mental health state Ts and Ps Gun Control!....blaming democrats Blame FBI
Yes, I agree. But were talking to people that have 0 understanding of rounds. Shit, most of these likely think the thing is shooting a 30-06 size. I'm painting a picture that the actual round is roughly the same diameter and in this case they weren't shooting hardened targets/300 meters and that's what matters. The answer still stands, yes a pistol could have done the same.
Kids dying does not call for change. Black guys not standing for the national anthem needs to be addressed though.
I’m not sure anyone on this board is of the mindset that our president isn’t an oblivious, sycophantic asshole.
You are completely ignoring the enormous amount of damage an AR round does to the human body as compared to a handgun.
Case in point in why there's no solution to any political argument is on this page...anything you propose, a "conservative" like Bill the Butcher will say "sorry I'm against the govt doing anything because they fuck everything up." Got it. So why do we pretend like there's dialogue? Literally anything you propose they will say no to.
Aside from you guys shitting up that thread, its pretty fair. Many of us have been very vocal about Trumps shortcomings.
I've had dialogue with people here. You want the government to do something and I don't. We disagree on that. I guess you have your pissy pants on now
Go have a pout in the corner ans when youre ready to control your enotions I encourage you to join the discussion
This is true, but there are plenty of "moderates" who still want gun ownership but can agree on tightening regulations. Don't invite the knuckle dragging crazies to the table.
I’m not ignoring anything. Pistols have all the lethality required to kill children at the distances of a school shooting. We’re not talking about 50yd shots or sniping from a Texas bell tower. Maybe there’s an argument to be made that the kids would be more dead from the rifle rounds than the pistol rounds, but they’d still be dead. That would be a weird argument but I guess we can discuss it.
The actual round, not the cartridge, which I addressed. Ignorant leftist alert! Thought you were military, you dont know this shit?
The damage caused by 556 vs. 10/22 is miles apart. Even at distances of 10 meters and less. Comparing those rounds is dumb. And arguing their lethality is in any way comparable is even dumber. A mass shooter armed with an AR will always, always be a more effective killer than that same shooter armed with a 10/22. Or basically any pistol for that matter.
Do they have the lethality? Sure. But a person is far more likely to survive a pistol round than a rifle round regardless of proximity.
I’m sorry what? Are you serious? Your last two comments do not seem very educated in terms of ballistics. Have actually ever seen what a .223 does in forms of damage- like to a deer or a pig? Its not like it explodes and leaves a whole a foot wide- it looks like a pencil went through. Like stated before- most handguns are using hollow point bullets which shred through on their way- leaving a crazy amount of damage. Proximity is a huge factor due to the speeds of the bullets that drastically decrease over distance and make no mistake- speed kills. So proximity is a huge factor and would make handguns entirely as effective in a closed enviornment.
But the question was very simple and straightforward: Yes. I think most agree that pistols used in these type of close quarter exchanges possess all the requisite lethality to kill children, especially with defense rounds (hollow point bullets) and extended magazines (providing them all the capacity of a AR.) If you want to ask me whether I’d prefer to be shot by a rifle or pistol, I’d answer neither. Second to neither, I’d take the pistol.
Lets say we ban AR-15s and it doesnt do anything to prevent school shootings, what damage has been done?
Also, this is not a hot take but how fucking wild is it that you can go to gun shows and by a gun without a background check? Like, how the fuck is that a thing?
it was something that took me a bit to wrap my head around in Fla. Ppl will have no proof of anything and own a legal gun. Or ppl will buy a gun being a convicted felon and also be absolutely clueless they lost their gun rights (insane I know).
I know. More of the 5'9" and under crowd should be like me, and project confidence at all times without carrying firearms.
Idk seems like you’re a pretty tough talking badass on these boards, but in reality you’re a short, weak cuck. But this board is a great outlet of compensation for you, proud of you buddy
