I enjoy berliners and other sours, but I really can't drink more than one at atime. That's where this beer comes in. I'm able to pound them. It's really tough for me to drink cheap light beer now, so this kind of fills that void
Except it's basically scientifically impossible to keep alcohol in your system drinking those. Pass me the water at that point imo
I was actually wondering amongst friends recently if there were any craft brewers doing non-alcoholic beers these days. We found an article from BA or somewhere that was talking about one or two trying it. I'd try it, just out of curiosity, I think it's a good thing to cultivate.
High Life tastes like arm pit. Low ABV hoppy beer tastes good, when done right. Lambic is my go to low ABV though.
Fuck yeah. Gun Hill has been KILLING it recently. That said, The Answer Gose are basically low ABV heroin
Understood. They're best beers, IMO, are their IPAs, stouts, and hopped sours. From what I've seen, their distribution is so-so and once their new facility opens up it'll be interesting to see if they mass produce their IPAs.
They had a sour day at local bottle shop and just about all the big name stuff was gone so picked a few of these up and was sad they were such shit. We don't normally get much distro of them down here. Just looked them up now to see where they were even.
Gonna be in Boston next weekend. Anyone have tips on where I need to be? Already planning a daytrip to Tree House on Saturday.
Might rent one. We are debating between renting a car to drive down to Tree House or taking an uber--thoughts? I know that the location in the city is retail only. Are you referring to the tap room in Canton? I think that's like 35 minutes or so away from our hotel.
Can't really take an uber to Treehouse - it's an hours drive at least. You'll need a rental and as far as Treehouse is concerned, even with the new location, it's a fucking shitshow in terms of crowds & lining up on the weekend. The Canton location of Trillium's about 30 mins from the city but they have a Truck / "beer garden" that pours on the Greenway (Downtown) - they're around on weekends from 11 AM onwards I believe. It's fairly short walk to the Congress Street location to buy beer & the Fort Point market next door always has some interesting cans / bottles to buy as well. Another good thing about Trillium is you can buy 1 can of a beer if you'd like to try a certain beer or buy a case. Row 34 next to Trillium is a really good seafood restaurant & they always have a good beer list. If you're into cocktails, Drink, across from Trillium, is probably the best spot in the city to grab a cocktail or few. Night Shift is also a good place to visit (by Somerville). There are quite a few bars with decent tap lists (nothing like New York or anything but still pretty good) - I can suggest some depending on what part of the city you're going to be staying at.
I think the plan as of now (beer-wise) is to take an early flight Saturday morning, either rent a car or uber to Tree House on Saturday. Uber to Trillium at Canton on Sunday, or if weather permits, maybe try the Beer Garden closer to the hotel. Monday night Night Shift. Could also use some restaurant recs, have a few already, but my buddy might require some options as he is a little pickier than me.
+1. The Trillium owners maybe a bit prickish but they surely make the best beer around here. Treehouse is all hype & long lines at this point, just like Other Half in BK.
Not sure where we're staying because it's not up to me, but we might stay at a place near the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center.
That's right about the Trillium Fort Point / Restaurants / Bars in that area + downtown - Row 34,Neptune Oyster (put your name down & come back in an hour), Sportello, Flour, Drink (Breakfast / bakery stuff), O Ya (if you want to splurge on some interesting takes on japanese food), Townsman, Cultivar, Great Barrington / Ogawa / Render / La Colombe for coffee. As far as beer bars are concerned, Tip Tap Room (downtown), Publick House (Brookline), Meadhall / Lord Hobo (Cambridge), Sunset Tap & Grill (Allston) If you decide to head out to Treehouse, drop by Armsby Abbey in Worcester - they always have good stuff on tap, incl. Hill Farmstead & recently had a few cantillons on tap IIRC.
Picked up a 6er of SN Celebration tonight. I used to love that beer, but was pretty unimpressed. Kinda bummed me out.
Assuming you're being hyperbolic but accessibility is key, I agree. Interboro, LIC, Finback draw lines just like Other Half. Hell, Equillibrium lines are bonkers now and they're 90 minutes outside of NYC. To your original point, Trillium rules because the beer is incredible and you can get most offerings whenever you need it. Perfect model. I wish Other Half (and the aforementioned breweries) had the ability and/or desire to do the same.
Pretty fucking lame. They had 1 case of Dusk Trill Dawn and 2-4 cases of Blueberry soak at each location. Sold out in an instant. Got 2 bottles of Red Broken Angel. Ahh well
At least I got a pour of Blackberry super soak and the peach super soak. Juicy and tart. I guess they’re going to release bottles of the Peach super soak tomorrow.
